Home and Away is back on our screens Monday night, and it's been a long time coming for fans as they spent their summer nights pining for the distractions and dramas of Summer Bay. With the show ending on an epic cliffhanger involving Cash, Nicholas Cartwright has now spoken to TV Week about his role as Cash and what fans can expect for his future.

If you need a refresher on what the hell went down, good news! You've come to the right place.

The mammoth 2024 finale promised "bloodshed" and "deadly consequences" and it delivered in the last five minutes of the 90-minute special, with two lives hanging in the balance — Harper's baby and Tim the questionable psychologist. Things are set to pick up where it was all left off on January 13, with Justin discovering Cash at the scene of what appears to be a violent crime, with Tim lying next to Cash covered in blood and unresponsive.

Cash has had his fair share of drama since entering the Bay in 2021. I mean, last year alone, the guy lost his job, then he pivoted to becoming a private investigator and his client died in his arms, he later proposed to his girlfriend Eden Fowler and things appeared as though they were looking up, but then his sister Flick died not long after, so he brutally dumped Eden during his grieving period, and now has woken up next to Eden's now-boyfriend Tim who appears to be dead.

“Cash takes hit after hit,” he told TV Week. “It’s been a fantastic arc. I quite enjoy playing out a variety of different issues as Cash.”

Nicholas went on to say despite the drama of Cash's life, he doesn't find him "difficult" to play. “There are definite challenges, but I’ve put a lot of work into creating Cash over the years. I leave it all out in the studio.”

“I worry sometimes the audience is going to get exhausted of them continuing to flog the one character!” Nicholas joked.

While the actor hasn't ruled out other acting gigs in the future, never fear Home and Away fans: Nicholas is staying put for the foreseeable future. "For now, I’m very happy where I am," he said.
