Cheryl Hines made her first public appearance since news broke that her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., "engaged in a personal relationship" with a New York magazine reporter who was reporting on the presidential election.

The Curb Your Enthusiasm actress stopped by Milan Fashion Week to attend several designers' shows on Saturday, Sept. 21, among them Bally and Gucci.

In a clip shared on X (formerly Twitter) by an attendee, Cheryl could be sitting alongside a runway with her daughter Catherine Young and watching the models — including her husband's daughter Kyra Kennedy, who walked in Gucci's show. Cheryl wore a white button-down shirt and carried a black leather purse.

Also on Saturday, her 59th birthday, the actress shared several posts on her Instagram Stories, including a repost of a "Happy birthday" message from her niece Zoe Hines.

"Thank you for the bday wishes!" Cheryl wrote over Zoe's post, which featured a video originally shared by the Instagram account for hines + young, the cosmetics company that the actress owns with her daughter.

Cheryl also shared a photo of herself, Catherine and Kyra sitting together at a restaurant table, with the caption: "Me & my girls."

Catherine posted a photo from the birthday dinner on her own Instagram Stories as she sent her mom well-wishes.

"Happy birthday to the best mother," the 20-year-old wrote, alongside a snapshot of Cheryl smiling as a birthday cake with a candle was placed in front of her. "I really don't know how I got so lucky."

New York magazine announced on Sept. 19 that it has put one of its reporters on leave after she “engaged in a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign,” whom CNN alleged was Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (Robert, 70, was running for president but dropped out of the election in August.)

A spokesperson for the magazine released a statement, saying Olivia Nuzzi, a 31-year-old Washington correspondent, had "acknowledged to the magazine's editors" that she engaged in the relationship "while she was reporting on the campaign," which was "a violation of the magazine’s standards around conflicts of interest and disclosures."

"Had the magazine been aware of this relationship, she would not have continued to cover the presidential campaign," the statement continued.

New York magazine said Nuzzi has been placed “on leave,” though “an internal review of her published work” found “no inaccuracies nor evidence of bias.” The publication added that it “is conducting a more thorough third-party review.”

The magazine apologized to its audience, saying, “We regret this violation of our readers’ trust."

PEOPLE previously contacted Robert and Cheryl for comment.

A representative for Robert denied that he and Nuzzi had a relationship in a statement to The Washington Post, stating that he only met her once for her November 2023 profile of him, titled “The Mind-Bending Politics of RFK Jr.'s Spoiler Campaign."

“Mr. Kennedy only met Olivia Nuzzi once in his life for an interview she requested, which yielded a hit piece,” the representative said, per The Washington Post.

Nuzzi said in a statement to PEOPLE that "the nature of some communication" between herself and "a former reporting subject turned personal," but added that she "did not directly report on the subject nor use them as a source" during that time.

"The relationship was never physical but should have been disclosed to prevent the appearance of a conflict,” she said. “I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I’ve disappointed, especially my colleagues at New York."
