Cate Blanchett Favors Double Denim in Stella McCartney for the Koko Foundation Event in London
Cate Blanchett turned to one of her go-to designers for her latest look at a special fundraising Letters Live event in aid of The Koko Foundation in London on Thursday. The Koko Foundation, based in the United Kingdom, dedicated itself to creating greener environments and promoting artistic endeavors for disadvantaged youth.
For the special occasion, Blanchett opted for a double denim look courtesy of Stella McCartney’s fall 2023 ready-to-wear collection. The look featured a denim collared top with long sleeves, combining denim for the bodice and collar with black fabric for the sleeves and shoulders.

Buttons ran down the front placket of the top, and the dark indigo denim matched Blanchett’s jeans. She added sparkle to her look with platform boots and aviator glasses featuring subtle glittering frames.
Her glam featured a clean makeup aesthetic, while her blond hair was parted in the middle with natural waves. Blanchett often collaborates with stylist Elizabeth Stewart.
Blanchett’s look made its runway debut during Paris Fashion Week in March 2023. The collection debuted at France’s oldest riding school, Manege Ecole Militaire, featuring wild horses as models walked the runway in pieces from the collection.
“On the runway, McCartney zoomed in on tailoring this season, inspired by equestrian uniforms and military regalia, showing British check and pinstripe boyfriend blazers with the season’s exaggerated shoulders and looser trousers, adding shrunken waistcoats showing midriffs for sexier takes on suits, as well as the new tailored bustier dresses that have been turning up everywhere despite their somewhat impractical look,” WWD’s Booth Moore reported in her review of the collection.
Sustainability has long been a pillar of McCartney’s brand and design execution. Her fall 2023 ready-to-wear collection “was crafted from 89 percent responsible materials, and included the first luxury handbags crafted from Mirum, a plant-based, plastic-free and circular alternative to animal leather,” Moore reported. “Other bags were made from crocodile-effect AppleSkin, using apple waste from the food industry, and Mylo, a mycelium leather alternative.”
