After having been open in the past about her own catfishing experience that saw her devote six years to a man who never existed, singer Casey Donovan has been announced as the host of Australia’s Catfish.

The new show, which has been announced by Channel Ten as part of its pilot week lineup, will see the former Australian Idol winner help Aussies who have suspicions about the identities behind their online romances.

She’ll be joined by documentarian Patrick Abboud for the program, which will be based off the US series hosted by Nev Schulman and Max Joseph.

Earlier this year Casey spoke candidly about her turbulent catfishing experience which saw a stranger - ‘Campbell’ - come into her life and rip it apart.

She described a pattern of deceit and psychological torture, and how she was strung along for over six years by a woman called Olga.

“I’d put so much effort and time in this that he had to be real. He HAD to,” she told Andrew Denton on Channel Seven’s Interview.

Meanwhile there are a string of other interesting programs that have made the lineup for Ten’s pilot week.

Roxy Jacenko’s reality show, I Am... Roxy!, will take a behind-the-scenes look at the Sweaty Betty PR founder’s life.

Sydney’s Crazy Rich Asians, My 80-Year-Old Flatmate and Part Time Privates are also on the list.
