Carrie Bickmore releases confronting birth photo

When we heard Carrie Bickmore was taking part in a pregnancy photoshoot to ‘commemorate’ and ‘celebrate’ the upcoming arrival of her third child, we were anticipating something heartwarming and empowering like she’s previously done.

Only what we got was far from that – in fact, it actually gave us a bit of a fright.

In the photo, the 37-year-old mum and Gold Logie winner is seen lying on a hospital bed, dressed in a white gown and surrounded by two nurses as she pretends to give birth.

It’s fairly standard so far, but the actually baby is a little disturbing.

Aside from being rather muscly, the baby has the face of her 33-year-old radio co-host, Tommy Little.

We were a bit shook, to be honest, and so were fellow radio duo Hughesy and Kate who called the image, ‘disturbing’.

Unsurprisingly, the photoshoot was actually all Tommy’s idea, which Carrie agreed to in order to support Unicef Australia’s ‘Save A Newborn Appeal’.

“I’m only doing this for charity,” Carrie said on their Carrie & Tommy radio show.

“It was a very awkward position to get into because for us to recreate this photo we actually needed you [Tommy] to almost look like I was birthing you,” she continued.

The Hit Network radio hosts are now encouraging their listeners to donate to the cause after they received a generous $20,000 donation from baby skin care brand, Little Innocents.

And to think this is only the first photo of five to be released!

Stay tuned for the rest of them.
