Carrie Bickmore was left behind in an awkward moment on Wednesday night’s The Project, after a technical mishap made for a hilarious end to the program.

The incident took place in the final moments of the show and saw Carrie trapped behind the news desk after co-star Gorgi Coghlan performed a live acoustic song.

The Masked Singer finalist belted out Cold Chisel’s classic “Flame Trees” for the audience alongside a guitarist, but it was what happened after that left tongues wagging.

After wrapping up her mellow set, the journalist’s co-stars each made their way over to Gorgi, but Carrie was literally tied to the desk.

“Gorgi, Gorgi!” Carrie yelled to her co-star across the studio, before concluding that she couldn’t be heard.

“I can’t (come over) I’m attached,” she added.

Hilarious moment

Although it remains unclear what exactly Carrie was tied to, a cord attached to her mic was likely the culprit in the hilarious on-air moment.

Meanwhile, the rest of the desk’s presenters made their way over to their colleague before offering a round of celebratory hugs.

And while the moment was an entertaining one, it wasn’t the only memorable clip from Wednesday night’s episode.

Earlier in the program, things got a little tense on the panel when Tommy Little revealed one of fellow hosts, Hamish Mcdonald’s, bizarre secrets.
