How Candace Cameron Bure, Danica McKellar Deal With Hubbies' Kissing Scene Concerns

The key part of any Christmas romance movie is, of course, the chaste kiss at the end of the film that proves the protagonists are truly in love.

But those scenes can present real-life challenges for the stars of those films ― at least where spouses are concerned.

Candace Cameron Bure, who has starred in at least 14 films with “Christmas” in the title for the Hallmark Channel and Great American Family since 2011, according to IMDb, said she goes to great lengths to keep her husband, former NHL player Valeri Bure, worry-free when the script requires her to kiss another actor.

“I don’t think it’s as comfortable for anybody – maybe if you’re an actor married to another actor – it’s just never comfortable to watch your spouse in the arms of someone, even though it’s a peck or a kiss or anything,” the former “Full House” star told Fox News.

Although Bure said her husband is “so supportive” and “proud” of her accomplishments, she admitted he has told her, ”I don’t really want to watch that part,” and “I don’t want to put you through that.”

Still, she told Fox, “We kind of worked through those feelings to a place where we both feel good and supported through it.”

Former “Wonder Years” star Danica McKellar, who moved with Bure to Great America Family in 2022, also told Fox News that her husband, attorney Scott Sveslosky, “doesn’t like” when she acts in romantic scenes.

However, her solution to any jealous feelings is simple.

“When that part of the movie happens, I just kiss him,” she said.

Both Bure and McKellar were big Christmas movie stars for the Hallmark Channel before moving to the more conservative Great American Family channel.

Bure, who is the Great American Family Channel’s chief creative officer, came under fire after taking the position when she told The Wall Street Journal not to expect gay romances on the channel.

“I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core,” she said.
