Cameron Diaz's Simple Red Wine Spritz is the Perfect Holiday Cocktail
At 52, Cameron Diaz is looking as great as ever. She became a mother of two this year alongside her husband, Benji Madden, in the midst of an acting hiatus. But just because her acting has been on pause doesn't mean The Holiday star isn't keeping busy.
When she's not chasing after her two sons, Raddix and Cardinal Madden, Diaz has been hard at work on her organic, non-GMO wine line, Avaline. Just in time for the holiday season, Avaline has launched a Lambrusco. The sparkling, fizzy Italian red wine is the perfect drink for the holiday season.
Lambrusco is great just poured into a glass, but it's also fun to turn the fizzy wine into a cocktail. So, in honor of the warm and cozy season, we set out to try one of Cameron Diaz's favorite cocktails, the Cambrusco Spritz.
The Cambrusco Spritz is a health-ified take on the Dirty Shirley, an adult version of the kids' drink made with vodka, lemon-lime soda, grenadine and a maraschino cherry (or seven). In her take on the drink, Diaz dials back the sugar and bumps up the flavor with the addition of the Lambrusco and cranberry-pomegranate juice. The color is a festive deep red, which is perfect for celebrating the spirited season.
As if the holidays weren't enough to celebrate, we can also rejoice over Cameron Diaz's return to the screen this coming January. She's set to star in the aptly-named Netflix movie Back in Action, streaming on January 17. This will be her first return to cinema in a decade. Perhaps a celebration is in order—in the form of a Cambrusco Spritz?

What Makes the Cambrusco Spritz so Great?
What makes this healthy dirty Shirley such a hit? Let's break it down.
1. It's a great low-sugar option. As we head deeper into the holiday season and into January, many of us are going to be putting a little ore focus on our fitness. Hey, some of us might even be more mindful than the rest of us and limit our sugar intake year-round! In either case, the Cambrusco Spritz is a great way to indulge in a cocktail without all the added sugars.
2. It's ultra-festive. This deep red cocktail is a natural fit for the holiday season and the fizz makes it extra festive. To jazz things up even more, you could add in a sprig of rosemary for a Christmas tree homage.
3. It's Cameron Diaz's favorite cocktail. Who wouldn't want to be as chic as Cameron Diaz, hello?! Enough said.
