A 7,294-square-foot store will open in SoHo at 530 Broadway, a renovated property reimagined by real estate development firm Shvo. The company anticipates opening the store by the end of 2025.
Built at the turn of the 20th century, 530 Broadway is comprised of what was originally three adjacent structures on SoHo’s coveted corner at Broadway and Spring.
More details about the store will be forthcoming, according to the company.
Calvin Klein previously had a Manhattan flagship for the Collection at 654 Madison Avenue, which opened in 1995. That flagship, on the northwest corner of Madison Avenue and 60th Street, was a 20,000-square-foot unit with three levels, a mezzanine, glass windows and three stories, housing men’s, women’s and home in a single retail setting. John Pawson, the store’s architect, designed the store with a minimalist aesthetic with clean lines, functional furniture, and a monochromatic color palette, which was considered a groundbreaking retail concept.
The store abruptly closed in 2019 following a transformation by Sterling Ruby in June 2017 (during chief creative officer Raf Simons’ rocky tenure at Calvin Klein) into an otherworldly installation consisting of bright yellow walls, industrial scaffolding and soft, tie-dye fabric sculptures.
This past June, Calvin Klein opened its first global flagship on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris. The 6,500-square foot, three-story space carries the full Calvin Klein apparel offering, with menswear and womenswear each occupying a floor, as well as accessories including eyewear and fragrance. The entire downstairs is dedicated to underwear and loungewear, making it the largest concentrated offering of the category in Europe. Swim and sportswear are also featured.
The Paris store was meant to be a singular vision and 360 experience of Calvin Klein as the PVH-owned company looks to solidify its positioning and point of view as a lifestyle brand, as reported. In 2023, PVH’s revenue from Calvin Klein brands amounted to about $3.9 billion.
Klein’s Paris flagship is bathed in shades of white and cream, with pink wood and stainless steel accents. It’s the expression of Klein’s new “Chalk” concept, that’s intended to convey the brand’s clean, modern and minimalist aesthetic. The company trialed the concept with smaller stores in Düsseldorf and Rome before opening the Paris flagship, as reported.
Last May, Calvin Klein brought former The Row designer Veronica Leoni on board as creative director for Collection, which will return to the runway in February for the fall 2025 season. After its debut, the Collection will be available in the Paris flagship along with the other ready-to-wear offerings.
