Emily Ratajkowski's cut-out mini dress has a seriously plunging neckline
Emily Ratajkowski is no stranger to a controversial fashion moment. From strangers shouting at her to put a shirt on (to be clear, she was wearing a shirt and EmRata handled the situation with the ignorant man like a boss), to rejecting the practical elements of knitwear by donning a red jumper with a giant hole cut-out (yes, now I sound ignorant, or just like your grandma). So, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that her latest look features a seriously marmite trend.
The multi-hyphenate – her CV includes model, actor, podcast host and author credentials – was in Milan, Italy to attend an event celebrating the Puma Speedcat last night [Tuesday 10 December]. Though not the official ambassador for the trainer silhouette, EmRata has been a long-time fan of the Puma style and of course, it featured in her look for the evening.
She opted for the black and white colourway of the fashion trainers to coordinate with the rest of her look, which brings us to the aforementioned contentious trend.
Initially distracted by EmRata's seriously plunging neckline and the fact she was braless in the barely-there black top that was almost entirely backless and featured multiple cut-outs, we didn't realise the garment was actually a mini dress and had been layered over a pair of black flared trousers. Oozing ‘00s nostalgia, wearing skirts over trousers divided the fashion set when it reappeared on the spring summer 2024 runways at Ganni, Saks Potts, Issey Miyake and Ferragamo. Clearly, EmRata is a fan of the look though.
She completed her look with a statement sculptural silver pendant necklace, chubby hoop earrings and a brown leather shoulder bag tucked tightly under one arm. The mother of one also later added a black leather trench coat over the top to leave the event.
Très chic. Head-to-toe black will always be a style win.
