Russell Crowe shares photos from his scorched property after bushfires
Russell Crowe has shared images of his rural property after it was ravaged by New South Wales’ ‘catastrophic’ bushfires.
The actor confirmed fire ‘hit his place’, a palatial 320-hectare property in Nana Glen, west of Coffs Harbour, on Tuesday, and has since shared images of how close the flames came to the house.
“We cut this firebreak 10 years ago. It did its job exactly,” he wrote on Twitter on Thursday, sharing several images of his scorched property.
A firebreak is a gap in vegetation or other combustible material that acts as a barrier to slow or stop the progress of a bushfire or wildfire.
Other photos also show burnt-out paddocks, as well as the scorched remnants of a boat, a horse float, and what is left of some garden plants and pots.
Four people have now been confirmed dead in the bushfires ravaging parts of NSW since last week, with more than 70 fires burning across Queensland since the current crisis erupted.
Oscar winner’s property hit by bushfires
The Oscar winner confirmed his property had been affected by the bushfires ravaging NSW and QLD on Twitter on Tuesday morning.
“Fire hit my place late in the day yesterday. My heart goes out to everyone in the valley,” he wrote.
“I’m not in Australia. My family are safe, billeted with friends.”

Deepest thanks to everyone on the ground.
Some fires still burning and we are out of water.
No livestock deaths to date.
Horses ok.

Russell Crowe's family hits back at 'bulls**t' bushfire claims
But instead of banding together amid the worsening crisis, one angry local woman suggested emergency fire services gave the star’s home preferential treatment while battling the blaze – despite the NSW Rural Fire Service saying that wasn’t possible.
Russell’s niece, Chelsea Crowe, also hit back at those ‘bulls**t’ claims in a Facebook post, saying, “Unfortunately, there is a lot of gossip and bulls**t going around that fire crews abandoned properties in favour to protect Russell's home.”
“If you look at a map and knew the boundary lines the entire property is backed by Tallawudjah and the state forest. Whilst they moved to (sic) crews to a previously scouted vantage point to attack it as it came through the ridge.
“This move was not to protect his buildings in particular. It wouldn't have mattered who lived there. So if you think they were favouring a few buildings of his only, kindly f**k off.”
