Bunnings fans have gone wild after the retailer shared a simple Christmas decorating hack that is easy for most people (even those without any DIY skills) and packs a major punch. The hardware store shared a video showing people how to make a giant candy cane on Instagram, and their followers absolutely loved it.

"Who knew PVC pipes and red cloth tape could make such festive giant candy canes?" they shared alongside a video on how to make the cute candy canes using items that start at just $2.35.

To make this candy cane, you need:

Bunnings technically also advises that you need a drill if you want to connect them to the floor flange, however, they've also suggested you can skip this part if you want, as you can pop them in with your pot plants instead if you like!

In the video, the retailer shares that you should use acetone to remove any markings on the pipes. You then wind the red cloth tape around the pipe and connect the two pipe bends to create the hook of the candy cane. Attach the pipe bends to the one-metre PVC pipe and continue the tape along the bend.

If you wanted to use a base, you would need:

On the floor flange, you would need to mark opposite hole locations half way between the collar and the edge of the outer ring, and clamp to a workbench, with the outer ring overhanging. Drill a hole in the outer ring, with the 5mm drill bit. Unclamp, then rotate 180˚ and reclamp, drilling a hole on the opposite side.

Then, slot the candy cane into the flange hub and secure it to the ground using the tent pegs through the drilled holes.

Bunning shoppers loved the idea, with one Instagram user joking, "Husbands everywhere being shown this video."
