$7.50 Harris Farm hack to make incredible Christmas dessert in under 5 minutes
Your Christmas dessert is made easy with this cheap and cheerful hack.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The baubles are hanging, the lights have been strung, and the end of every supermarket aisle is piled high with red-ribboned boxes and festive delights.
With just two and a half weeks to go, attention is turning to the all-important Christmas lunch. Whether you’re hosting this year or just bringing a plate, you’ll want to know about these wonderful Christmas specials - starting with a $7.50 dessert that looks and tastes a treat.
These Petite Pavlovas from Harris Farm are light and fluffy with a wonderfully crumbly exterior and just the right amount of sweetness to balance out your fruit and cream without being sickly sweet.
They also look incredible when arranged in a little wreath like in this popular video from Food52. A little dollop of cream - I used a 200ml tub for one packet of pavlovas - some berries and a dusting of icing sugar, and you’re done.

The folks at Food52 also added strawberry jam, pomegranate seeds and a couple of sprigs of rosemary, but you could also just stick to the tried and true and drizzle on a bit of passionfruit pulp.
The whole thing takes five minutes to throw together and looks like it’s been pulled straight from the pages of a Christmas magazine. Plus, the best part is that they’re already individually portioned, so there’s no cutting needed, you just pull them apart to serve.
The perfect cheese plate
Harris Farm is known for its prawns at Christmas time, with queues usually stretching across the car park on Christmas Eve, but another thing they’re famous for that is often overlooked during the festive season is their cheese.
With a selection of over 200 local and imported cheeses, their fridge aisle is the place to be if you want to put together a sophisticated cheese plate.
You can pair a mild and smooth Lingot Argental Brie from the Pavè d’Affinois, currently on special for $8, with a $9 extra mature cheddar from Snowdownia that has a black rind and an ‘immense depth of flavour’, and a $12 dolce gorgonzola for an elevated take on a classic trio.
Soft, creamy, crumbly, hard, bitey, blue, red, truffled, candied, even dairy-free - you name it, they’ve got it. And that’s not even mentioning the dips, olives and crackers that sit alongside the cheese.
Other Christmas essentials at Harris Farm
There’s also a wide selection of beautifully boxed chocolates and treats on offer for Christmas this year at Harris Farm.
This assortment of mini chocolate bars or these chocolate-covered candied orange skins would make a lovely end-of-year thank-you gift for teachers and the special people in your life.
Dozens of artisanal panettone options like this 1kg Augusta one, are also available in store and online.
Another great contribution to a Christmas lunch is a box of cherries, which come in one and two-kilo boxes, or a tray of mangoes which always go down a treat.
