When it comes to DIY home makeovers, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and recurring lockdowns have certainly given some people time to tackle the odd project at home.
From large projects to small, plenty of stunning transformations are being shared across social media, with this incredibly simple yet effective bathroom vanity makeover recently going viral.
Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, seasoned house flipper and author Werine Erasmus, also known as The Happy Renovator, says she didn't want to completely 'rip out' the old cabinet.
"The ‘bones’ of the vanity and mirror cabinet were in really good condition, so I really didn’t want to rip it out, but rather recycle," she tells us.
"I just came up with a few cost-effective ideas to give it a modern look...for as little $ as possible."
Taking to a popular Bunnings Facebook page Werine shared the before and after photos, writing: "Just sharing my diy vanity makeover."
The dark cabinets were now a crisp white, with an updated bench top and basin, as well as patterned splash back, which gave the space a modern look. And the small wooden shelves alongside the vanity mirror were a perfect use of space. All up the project only cost her $300.
"The vanity and mirror cabinets were structurally still fine, I only needed to apply a few diy tricks and voila," Werine explained in the post.
"I built and laminated the new vanity top myself (with a little help from my kitchen guy).
"Paint, tiles, grout, waterproofing, timber, basin, mixer tap, handles … all from Bunnings."
The makeover received hundreds of comments, with many calling the new look "amazing" and "gorgeous".
"How beautiful is this transformation," was one comment.
"Wow! I wish someone with your skill would help makeover our bathroom! This is fabulous!!!" was another response.
While a third wrote: "Beautiful! Such a lovely change and I love the side shelves. White makes everything so much fresher!"
