"Bridgerton" Star Simone Ashley Defended Nicola Coughlan Against Body-Shaming In The Most Perfect Way

Whether or not you're a Bridgerton head, you know that Nicola Coughlan is thee moment right now — and, if we're being really real, she has been for a while.

Nicola's true star turn in the Netflix hit's third season has everyone talking — and, because people are just awful sometimes, not all the talk has been very cool to witness.

In the last several weeks alone, Nicola has brilliantly clapped back at a reporter who made a backhanded comment about her body — and she's also had to refute rumors that her waist was photoshopped in the most recent season.

The discourse around Nicola's body, as ever, is quite stupid, misogynistic, and utterly useless — but Bridgerton costar Simone Ashley's got her back.

During a recent press conference (via People), Simone gave her take on all the nonsense chatter — and, surprise surprise, she is not here for it.

"Yeah, the haters are going to hate, and I think we can all relate to that, but I really don't think that she's allowing that to bother her," she said about her costar.

"She has a strong and fruitful career and entire life ahead of her. And I really believe in her, as the world does as well."

"I think Nicola is just absolutely flying," Simone continued. "She is a gorgeous, strong, confident, intelligent woman, seeing her do this press tour and spread so much joy and inspiration to everyone — especially women — all over the world."

"And I'm inspired by her as well. She's also a really kind human being, and I think that's such a universal language that people can relate to."
