Bindi Irwin gushes over daughter Grace's 'new best friend'

Bindi Irwin's daughter, Grace Warrior Irwin Powell is following in her animal lover parents' foosteps at the tender age of nine months old.

On Monday morning, the Australia Zoo star shared several sweet snaps of her little girl's adorable introduction with a tiny cassowary chick.

"Two cute chickies," proud mum Bindi captioned the pics of baby Grace and 'Fergo,' the fluffy Aussie native bird.

"Meet Grace’s new best friend, Fergo, the cassowary chick. They absolutely love each other! We are so proud of our breeding program to protect this endangered species," the 23-year-old added.

Grace, who was born on March 25, was all dressed up for her animal encounter in a denim pinafore and a floral print hat.

Just a day earlier, Grace got up close and personal with some red kangaroos with her Florida-born dad, Chandler Powell by her side.

"Red roo mornings with my buddy," Chandler, 25, wrote on his Instagram along with an adorable selfie of the pair.

Living at Australia Zoo clearly has its perks for Grace, who's already been face-to-face with a giant tortoise as well.

Her zookeeper mum and dad are making sure to get Grace into the family business as early as possible, just like Bindi's own parents Terri and the late Steve Irwin did with her.

Bindi paid tribute to her father when choosing Grace's middle name, with 'Warrior' being a nod to Steve's legacy as the 'most incredible Wildlife Warrior'.

'Believe in miracles'

Back in November, Bindi revealed a small detail about her the timing of her daughter Grace's birth that she hadn't realised until now.

"Grace Warrior was born at 5:52pm on the 25th of March 2021," she wrote. "We just discovered that Chandler and I said our vows and were officially married exactly 3 minutes earlier on the 25th of March 2020.

"Three. Minutes. This is why I believe in miracles."

The photo of Bindi and Chandler's wedding day confirms it was 5:49pm when they were officially married, with Grace born at 5:52pm a year later.

Many of Bindi's followers agreed that this was a "miracle", with one user writing, "Honestly, as a nurse, she was probably born at the exact same time.

"Often the time of birth is a few minutes later when a nurse or doctor remember to look at the clock and calls out the time because they are so busy in the moment."

Last week, Bindi shared a photo of Grace to celebrate the fact she is now eight months old with a photo of her sitting inside a statue of a giant crocodile.

"And here we are, our baby girl is 8 months old and her personality continues to shine," she wrote. "One of the things she likes most is our giant crocodile statue here at Australia Zoo. She’s growing up so fast and her smile lights up the world. Grace Warrior, we love you beyond description."

Chandler commented, "She is the cutest. I love you both."
