Big Brother's surprising housemate tipped to win: 'Best player'

Yahoo Lifestyle has been chatting with all of the evicted housemates from Big Brother: Royalty vs New Blood, and there is one surprising detail that keeps coming up.

When asked who will win the show, it’s not unexpected that super-fan Johnson Ashak and returning player Tim Dormer are common answers, but Taras Hrubyj-Piper is also a front runner.

Taras is a super-fan of Survivor, and since the new Big Brother format relies heavily on challenges and alliances, perhaps this is where his strategy and gameplay come from.

Jules Rangiheuea was the latest housemate to be evicted and she believes that Taras has what it takes to win the prize.

“The best player [is] Taras, 100 per cent. For someone who keeps winning challenges yet was never nominated, was never put up is wild. He makes you feel like you’re the only person in the world and you’re his best friend,” she says.

“I would assume if Taras goes all the way, I can imagine him taking it out.”

Anthony Drew’s ex-girlfriend Samantha Monovoski also echoes this sentiment, saying that she believes Johnson, Tim and Taras are “incredible game players”.

Evicted housemate Lara Kamper is also rooting for Taras to win, saying that he has the “kindest heart” in the house.

It’s hard to see Taras actually taking the win, because viewers have noticed the quiet musician hasn’t received much air-time. Super-fans of reality shows like Big Brother and Survivor have started to predict winners by watching the ‘edit’ and seeing how much coverage a contestant has.

While we haven’t seen much of Taras’ personality shine through, Big Brother royalty Trevor Butler tells us he really connected with the young housemate.

“Taras is just hilarious, [one of] the most amazing people I’ve ever met in my life. Just genuine, and know[s] how to play the game,” he tells us.

With 10 housemates evicted so far, the game is starting to reach a boiling point as alliances become murky. Strategic moves are now critical for all housemates if they want a shot at winning the $250,000 prize.

However, another way people can predict winners of reality shows is by looking at the odds on Sportsbet. Fan-favourite Reggie Bird looks like the most likely player to win with odds of $1.75, as the housemate is considered the 'sweetheart' of Australia.

Taras is a few spots behind Reggie, tying for third with Johnson — both with odds of $6 to win. On the other end of the scale, Tully Smyth is likely to be evicted soon with odds of $41 to win.
