Yahoo Lifestyle Berlin Film Festival Jury: Fan Bingbing, Nabil Ayouch, Maria Schrader and More Join President Todd Haynes
The Berlin Film Festival has unveiled the competition jury of its 75th edition, including Chinese superstar Fan Bingbing, Moroccan filmmaker Nabil Ayouch (“Everybody Loves Touda”), German costume designer Bina Daigeler (Tár), Argentinian director Rodrigo Moreno (“The Delinquents”), film critic Amy Nicholson and actress-director Maria Schrader (“She Said”).
As previously announced, the jury will be presided over by “May December” filmmaker Todd Haynes.

Earlier this month, the festival announced an exciting lineup, including Richard Linklater’s “Blue Moon,” starring Ethan Hawke and Margaret Qualley, and Michel Franco’s “Dreams” with Jessica Chastain. Other notable titles on the competition roster include “Hot Milk,” the feature debut of acclaimed screenwriter Rebecca Lenkiewicz (“She Said”) starring Emma Mackey, Fiona Shaw and Vicky Krieps; and “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” Mary Bronstein’s film starring Rose Byrne, A$AP Rocky and Conan O’Brien.
A pair of Chinese movies, “Girls on Wire” (“Xiang fei de nv hai”), directed by Vivian Qu, and “Living the Land” (“Sheng xi zhi di”), directed by Huo Meng, will also debut in competition.
The upcoming edition will kick off the leadership of new artistic director Tricia Tuttle, a well respected American film journalist and curator who’s taken over from Carlo Chatrian. When announcing the lineup, Tuttle discussed her wish to broaden the appeal of the festival, as well as keep its political roots. “We cannot and we do not shy away from [politics]. It’s arguably in the DNA of the city and the festival itself,” she said. “But it’s fair to say that the Berlinale is many things and for all festivals and all culture right now, the news agenda can often dominate the discourse.
Tom Tykwer’s “The Light” will open the festival. The film marks Tykwer’s return to the big screen after seven years and four seasons as writer and director of the hit series “Babylon Berlin.”
The 75th edition will take place Feb. 13-23.
