Benny Blanco revealed how his first date with Selena Gomez went down.

The two began dating in mid-2023 but have known each other for much longer. Benny produced multiple songs on Selena's 2015 album Revival, and Selena appeared on Benny's 2019 song "I Can't Get Enough."

In a recent livestream with Kai Cenat, Benny was asked how he first asked out Selena on a date. "She asked me out. It was crazy," Benny replied.

"We were just talking and then she was like, ‘Oh, you want to get dinner?’ And like, I went to dinner and I had no idea," he continued. “I’ve been friends with her for years, we’ve been friends for, like, 10 years plus, maybe 15. I met her when she was so much younger. We're close in age."

The producer explained, "We were just talking and she was like, ‘Oh, let’s go get dinner tomorrow,’ and I was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to this thing with my friends. Why don’t you come hang out with me first, then we’ll go link for dinner.’ So, we just went and got a drink first, and I didn’t even realize we were on a date!”

“She was like, ‘I would’ve worn something different to this date,’ and I was like, ‘Wait, what? We’re on a date?’ I had no idea!” he continued. “Then she had left early, because she had to go somewhere, she had to film a video the next day. Then, we, like, hung out two days later, and then I was like, yo… I was like, I think she likes me. Then I literally just kissed her and then the rest is history.”

Noting that they spend "every day together," he continued, "As many days as we can. Every day. She’s my best friend. Actual best friend."
