Which “Beetlejuice” Character You Are, Based on Your Zodiac Sign
As the sequel 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' releases in theaters, find out which OG character you are
Over 36 years ago, Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice captivated audiences and became a blockbuster hit. Now, the 1988 movie is back for its longly anticipated sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
The quirky horror-comedy film is sure to tickle our funny bones with a combination of laughter, chills and thrills — after all, its Sept. 6 release date makes the motion picture a Virgo Sun with a Libra Moon.
We’ll have lots to discuss with our pals after watching the flick as a result. Hopefully, talking about the movie doesn't summon the demon by saying his name three times: Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!
Beetlejuice was first released on March 30, 1988 — making it an Aries. Since the Fire sign is known to be an overachiever, we can attribute that to its initial success — as well as the zodiac signs of the cast, who all seem to mesh well together. The ensemble cast brought their wits and star-quality appeal to the forefront of the movie.
Read ahead to see which OG Beetlejuice character you are, based on your zodiac sign.

Aries: Maxie Dean
In the movie, Maxie Dean is the self-serving Chairman of Botco Industries. He’s invited to the Deetz’s house under the guise of a seance but spends the majority of the evening being pitched about why he should invest in turning the town into a supernatural venue.
Like an Aries, Max’s patience is easily tested and his temper flares, resulting in him being sprung through the roof by Beetlejuice. Robert Goulet brings his Sagitarian sass to the role by mixing exuberance, excitement, and laughter. The creation of the film’s character Maxie Dean results from his use of campiness and bravado.
Taurus: Adam Maitland
The loving husband of Barbara, Adam is a loyal and caring person who enjoys the simple pleasures in life and death. Every Taurus likes to tend to their hobbies (Adam’s is recreating a model of the town) and connect with their significant other (they’re extremely romantic). Therefore, it’s clear that Adam is a Taurus in the living world and afterlife.
Even though Alec Baldwin is an Aries Sun, his Mercury (planet of communication and expressiveness) is in Taurus, allowing him to realistically depict a character that resembles the Earth sign. More props to him for this dynamic transformation on screen.
Gemini: Jane Butterfield
Jane is the nosy neighbor, local real estate broker and catalyst of the movie (she gives Lydia the skeleton key to the house which unlocks the attic where the Maitlands are hiding out). Geminis are known to stir the pot and get the plotline moving. In this case, Jane’s pushiness brings the Deetz family to town to purchase the Maitland’s house and sets off pivotal events in the film.
Virgo actress Annie McEnroe brings the right amount of messiness to the film as a small-town realtor trying to make a quick buck (…and why shouldn’t she?).
Cancer: Barbara Maitland
Barbara will go to any length to protect her dwelling from new renovations and inhabitants moving in — particularly the Deetz family. When she tries to leave the house as a ghost, she is chased by sand monsters urging her to stay in the attic, adhering to the stereotype that Cancers are homebodies. Being that she has maternal instincts when it comes to her relationship with Lydia, Barbara radiates pure Cancerian energy.
As an Aquarian actress, Geena Davis adds logic and sensibility to the character she portrays in Beetlejuice by talking Lydia out of bad situations and offering prolific advice.
Leo: Delia Deetz
As the dramatic sign of the zodiac, Leos can be a tad egocentric and passionate. Much like Delia, Leo has a boldness to them (this is shown through her art) and is always wanting to be the best. Yes, at times both Leos and Delia can be critical (even though they think of it as encouragement ) — but that's how they express their terms of endearment.
Catherine O’Hara, who portrays Delia in the movie, is a Pisces in real life. However, O’Hara captures the essence of her Pluto in Leo, using its transformative energy by mimicking their selfish tendencies.
Virgo: Miss Argentina
Miss Argentina is the receptionist in the Neitherworld Waiting Room. Organization and privacy is key to Miss Argentina, who enchants visitors with her Virgo tendencies such as being a stickler for details, order, silence and correct paperwork. Miss Argentina works as a bureaucrat — which is a Virgo’s dream.
Patrice Martinez brings Mercurial sensibilities to the role. As a Gemini, Martinez can relate to the Virgo groove and makes the character seem lighter and less morose.
Libra: Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice is “the ghost with the most” who’ll do anything to get hitched. A lady's man to the core (or at least, he tries to be), Beetlejuice wants Lydia as his bride. Manipulating Lydia to marry him, if he saves the Maitlands, makes him a mortal once again — which nobody wants. Since Beetlejuice’s crime is one of love, he connects with the zodiac sign Libra, who is relationship-oriented.
Although Michael Keaton is a Virgo Sun, his Saturn and Neptune are both in Libra, pushing him to commit to the fantasy of playing the mischievous ghoul.
Scorpio: Lydia Deetz
The goth style of Lydia resembled the aesthetic of Scorpio, who governs the underworld. Scorpios have intense feelings, all of which Lydia possesses. Being that Lydia isn't afraid of the Maitlands (who are ghosts) and wants to get to know them better, makes her a true Scorpio to the core (since the enlightened Water sign is open to comprehending mysteries, like life after death and the supernatural world).
Did we mention that Winona Ryder, the actress who plays Lydia, is a Scorpio, too? All the more reason why Lydia is determined, empathetic and protective of the Maitlands from day one.
Sagittarius: Juno
Barbara and Adam Maitland's caseworker and Beetlejuice’s former boss is the no-nonsense and direct Juno. In the flavor of Sagittarius, Juno doesn't pull punches and tells the Maitlands the down low about the afterlife (the first rule being: “never trust the living” and the other to not call upon Beetlejuice for assistance — both of which they ignore). Like a Sagittarius, Juno crafts a hysterical and blunt portrayal of the hereafter.
Sylvia Sidney is the Leo dynamo who plays Juno in Beetlejuice. Sidney shows the audience her Leo-ness qualities by stealing each scene she is in with quips and memorable quotes.
Capricorn: Bernard
Bernard is Delia’s longtime friend and agent. In true Capricorn form, he just cares about business and money. Social engagements and calls are fun, but not when there is a financial agenda. Dick Cavett, who has a Capricorn Moon and Ascendant gave the role of Bernard flavor. His deadpan and sarcastic look into the camera gives the audience a glimpse into the satirical illustration of how business managers stroke the egos of their clients — even when they have minimal talent. Cavett’s Sun in Scorpio adds flair and depth to the role, making him a humorous character in the story.
Aquarius: Otho Fenlock
Once an Aquarius gets on their soapbox, it’s hard for them to get down. Otho takes the lead in holding seances to bring the dead back to life as an entertainment ploy. The interior designer, who has tacky taste, uses this get-together as a chance to showcase their skills like Aquarians do when trying to prove a point and taking a grandstand on matters close to the heart — in this case, it's calling upon ghosts to amuse friends and colleagues.
Aries Sun sign Glenn Shadix brought snippy pizzazz and fervor to the role of Otho with spicy high energy.
Pisces: Beryl
Being the sensitive editor for Ballantine Books, Beryl awaits the appearance of the ghosts anxiously at the diner party. She’s also an artist who gets possessed by Adam and Barbara Maitland. Meryl’s tender and mystical personality aligns her with the sign Pisces, who is known to be psychic and creative. Plus, she's a non-confrontational foe of Otho, which is how Pisces react to ghastly social situations.
The role of Beryl is played by Scorpio Adelle Lutz. Honing in the attributes of her co-water sign allows Lutz to take on the role of Beryl with understanding and compassion in the film.
