Beauty and the Geek stars reveal powerful lessons from the show
They might have been the first couple sent home from this year’s season of Beauty and the Geek, but Daniella and Nate definitely walked away from the experience with plenty of lessons learned.
Chatting with Yahoo Lifestyle following their elimination on Wednesday night, the pair opened up about the life-changing adventure and how they helped each other grow.
“What I learned from Nate and the other geeks is that they've got their passions and it's something that I never really believed in myself,” Daniella shares. “So it made me realise what my true passions are, like fashion, and now I'm actually working on starting my own business in the fashion world.
“But also self-love was a really huge one. I think for all of us, we've all learned to really love ourselves and be ourselves because that’s who we are and that’s who people should just accept.”
“The biggest thing that I learned was that I am much more capable of dealing with social situations than I really anticipated,” Nate added. “Now I feel ready to go out into the world with a whole lot more confidence.”

Daniella, who is a Miss Universe finalist, went on to say that while she’s disappointed she left so early in the competition, she had an amazing time connecting with the geeks.
“For me, it was a really good reality show to take on, better than Love Island or MAFS or any of those, because it's more heartwarming,” she says.
“I felt like this was definitely the show for myself to get personal growth out of, and I'm so grateful to now say that I've got like 19 new best friends.”
Japanese anime expert Nate also admits that it’s a shame the experience ended so quickly but he has no regrets.
“It ended up being so much better than I expected and I’ve come out of it with a bunch of new friends who are really cool and I’ll probably end up seeing them for the rest of my life,” he remarks.
‘None of it’s fake’
Speaking about the rumours that the show is “fake” and the stars are just acting for the camera, the duo assert that everything viewers see on TV is “absurdly real”.
“People will say that they're ‘fake geeks’ or whatever, and they're really not,” Daniella says.
“And you know what, we call them geeks but they are just people with some really great passions, and I feel like people should appreciate that a lot more.
“It's definitely all real and the connections are all real. With Michael and Tara, what you see on camera is literally the connection that we saw in real life. So none of it’s fake, none of it’s scripted. We are presenting ourselves the way that we actually are.”
Beauty and the Geek airs Mon - Wed at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now
