“The Bachelorette”: Jenn Tran Urges Sam M. to 'Be Better' at Men Tell All: 'You’re a Grown Man'
The physician assistant student told her ex during the Aug. 27 episode, "I feel very, very sorry for whoever you end up with"
That Fantasy Suites cliffhanger with Bachelorette Jenn Tran and Devin came to a swift resolution at the start of the Aug. 27 episode.
“I just am doubting a little bit of where your head’s at right now,” Devin, 28, said to Jenn, 26, after showing up at her hotel room.
Devin told Jenn he felt like “the safe option” for her. “Proposals are next week and I still don't know where your head’s at,” he said.
Jenn explained that she didn’t feel like she could express herself as well as Devin. “I don’t know how to be, maybe, what you need me to be,” she said to Devin.
However, Jenn knew how she felt for Devin. “I do love you, you freakin’ idiot,” Jenn said to Devin.
They exchanged a few more “I love yous” before parting ways, and at the rose ceremony, Devin received the first rose from Jenn. Marcus got the second one, meaning Jonathan would be going home.
“I think you were perfect for me and I wasn't perfect for you, and that's a really hard pill for me to swallow,” Jonathan, 27, said to Jenn before exiting.
The creative director told Jenn he realized his true feelings for Jenn during a walk on the beach the prior night — but he never got the chance to tell her. “I feel like the biggest idiot in the world because something amazing was right in front of me and I was too much of my own enemy just to see it until I was too late,” Jonathan lamented.
Jonathan teared up in the car ride going home. “I could've done better,” he cried. “I could've been better.”
MEN TELL ALL
In the studio with host Jesse Palmer, all of Jenn’s exes reunited. Aaron began by saying that he only told Jenn about people who he thought wouldn’t be ready for an engagement before he left because he believed he and Jenn had established a “level of trust” with her.
When Brian questioned Aaron, 29, about who he thought had poor intentions for coming on the show, Aaron named Devin, Sam N. and Spencer. Aaron then told Spencer, 31, that, following his broken engagement, “It just didn't feel like you were fully healed or you were ready.”
But Spencer explained, “You can still be healed and you can not be comfortable.”
Jesse, 45, also questioned Aaron about giving Devin a self-growth book.
“I wanted him to have a resource that he could be a more aware person of how he comes off, which he didn't realize,” Aaron said.
Aaron’s twin brother Noah, who got engaged to Abigail Heringer after meeting her on Bachelor in Paradise, found himself on the receiving end of a similar situation when he appeared on season 16 of The Bachelorette.
Noah told Aaron from the audience that he didn’t approve of how the aerospace engineer carried himself on Jenn’s season.
“We were in the womb together, but I don’t think the book’s the move,” Noah said to Aaron. “I don't think anybody should tell somebody that they are or aren't ready. We've all got our own journey.”
Then the attention turned to Sam N. and his decision of telling Jenn he loved her during the Thunder Down Under group date. Sam N. explained that he did that to show Jenn “how much she means to me,” but he admitted he jumped the gun “a little bit.”
“Love isn't linear. Everyone has their own timeline,” Sam N., 25, said.
KEEPING THE MAIN THING THE MAIN THING
Jesse called Sam M.’s tactics into question when he brought the contractor to center stage. “I watch all of this back on TV and I think, ‘I’m struggling,’” Sam M. said.
However, Sam M. claimed he “100%” loved Jenn when he said as much to her before leaving. The 27-year-old also refuted claims that he came onto the show hoping Daisy Kent or Maria Georgas would be The Bachelorette.
“I remember telling my parents, I was like, ‘I don't see it working out with either of them, truthfully,’” Sam M. alleged.
When Jenn took the stage, she didn’t hold back while addressing Sam M. “We didn't have any conversations and he didn't really know me at all at the end of the day,” Jenn said.
Jenn thought Sam M. showed “blatant disrespect” to the other men. “Everything was about you the entire time,” she continued.
Additionally, Jenn addressed the statements Sam M.’s loved ones made online about how he came off on the show.
“You’re a grown man and instead of taking accountability for your actions, you decided to blame it on the producers, the edit, the TV show, whatever it was,” Jenn said. “And at the end of the day, the man on TV was exactly the man that I sat across from the entire journey.”
Jenn told Sam M. she wanted him “to be better” after going on the show. “But if you don’t take a step back and look at what you saw and take accountability for your actions and grow and learn, then I feel very, very sorry for whoever you end up with because this delusional world that you’re living in right now and this denial is not going to work for anybody," the physician assistant student said.
Sam M. thanked Jenn for helping him grow. “I definitely lost myself in some of those moments right there and I wish that I could go back and redo them, truthfully,” Sam M. said to Jenn.
Thomas N. expressed regret for interrupting Jenn’s conversation with Devin to talk to the freight company owner.
“Had you kept your focus on me, like maybe the journey would've turned out a little bit different for you,” Jenn said to Thomas N., 31.
The recruitment adviser said, “If I could go back and do it again, I would not leave you alone.”
But hope for second chances at love also came out of the Men Tell All portion, as Jesse extended offers to appear on Bachelor in Paradise season 10 to Jonathan and Hakeem, who faced his fear of spiders by letting the world’s largest spider crawl on his lap.
