Bachelorette favourite Carlin pictured working at Cotton On

He’s been tipped as an early favourite in the race for Angie Kent’s heart, but Carlin Sterritt shocked both our Bachelorette and loyal viewers when he revealed last week that he was, in fact, married.

And that isn’t the only thing we didn’t know about the 30-year-old.

Introduced as a fitness trainer and model and actor, Carlin has also worked in retail, as photos of him at a Cotton On store in Sydney taken in December 2017 reveal.

Although not something that would affect his chances with Angie, it may come as a shock to his Instagram followers who have familiarised themselves with photos of him as the model in clothing campaigns, rather than the person behind the counter.

Of course our latest Bachelor, Matt Agnew, also raised eyebrows when he was spotted walking to work at NAB in Melbourne, casting widespread doubt over his career as an astrophysicist.

He later explained, of course, that he had taken a job as a data scientist, something he told 10 daily he did to “give me an extra skillset, hopefully leading to the space exploration side of space down the track”.

But let’s get back to Carlin.

A married man

Carlin was Angie’s top pick on the opening night, and she gifted him the coveted 24-hour rose, but when it came time to cash in on the prize, he dropped one hell of a bombshell - he’s actually married.

“I’m the kinda guy who wants to be open and transparent,” he said to the ex-Gogglebox star on their picnic date, before adding, “I am… married.”

Carlin went on to explain to a clearly shell-shocked Angie that he wed in 2016 but that he and his wife have been separated for a year and a half.

“We drifted apart. And I was pretty hurt in the process. She’s moved overseas now so for me it was like I’ve closed that chapter of my life,” he explained.

“We filed for divorce and stuff and I suppose that’s the last stage of that.”

In a later interview, Angie admitted that the revelation “threw a spanner in the works” with regards to their budding romance - and viewers agreed.

“Carlin, why couldn’t you get divorced before coming on here!” one person on Twitter exclaimed, while another scathingly said, “Carlin filled in the paperwork for #BacheloretteAU but he couldn't even file his own divorce papers?”

Not alone

Carlin isn’t the only man in the mansion who has a wife on the outside, and as Yahoo Lifestyle revealed last week, Adam Sellars is also still legally married.

A source close to Adam and his ex-wife confirmed the pair were still legally wed while the filming was underway, after they separated in 2017.

“Adam Sellars is still married to the mother of his two children,” the source told Yahoo Lifestyle, “It was mentally over for them ages ago,” the source continued, explaining for the sake of their children the pair tried and failed, to stick it out.
