Bachelor's Snezana Wood reveals life-threatening illness after giving birth
After giving birth prematurely earlier this month, Snezana Wood has revealed the serious illness that kept her apart from her newborn daughter, Harper Jones.
The former Bachelor star took to Instagram on Friday to share a lengthy post detailing how Harper was taken to special care nursery while she was sent to a different hospital for sepsis.
Sepsis is a life-threatening complication of an infection that occurs when chemicals in the bloodstream cause widespread inflammation throughout the body. Symptoms include fever, difficulty breathing, low blood pressure, fast heart rate and mental confusion.
Alongside a gallery of photos of Sam Wood holding Harper, Snezana praised her husband for his strength throughout the tough experience.
“Can’t image how stressful and scary it was for you seeing our baby taken to special care nursery and me get taken away to another hospital all while keeping your cool and staying calm and not letting me see you worry,” she wrote.

“Our little Harper had an infection and mama here sepsis but you never told me or showed me how serious it was or how worried you were.
“You stayed calm which kept me calm. I asked you to stay with Harper till she was ok, and you did, then you came across to the hospital I was taken to to make sure I was ok, then back again to Harper and so on. It was a lot!”
Snezana went on to thank Sam for helping her get through “what has been the toughest most stressful three weeks we’ve ever experienced”.
“You are my everything, I love you to the moon and back and couldn’t have gotten through this without you,” she continued.
“PS sorry for yelling at you to F#*k off when you tried to make me laugh while I was in serious labour pain about to giving birth.”
‘Home time’
Snezana’s post comes shortly after she updated her followers about Harper’s progress and said that she was no longer on monitors or feeding tubes in the NICU.
Meanwhile, Sam also shared a sweet post on Saturday announcing that it was finally “home time”.
“24 days and it’s finally time to come home,” he wrote alongside a photo of himself with Snezana and Harper in the hospital.
‘Really sick’
Sam announced the news that his wife had given birth earlier this month, sharing a sweet photo of Snezana and Harper alongside a caption detailing their health scare.
“30 minutes after this photo was taken. Snez became sick. Really sick and before we knew it Harper was off to the special care unit and Mum was into ICU,” he wrote.
“Of course in true Snez mum fashion her only thoughts were for her little baby and it was breaking her heart that she couldn’t hold her. After finding an infection that both Snez and Harper had picked up and some incredible care from the nurses and doctors they were reunited yesterday and both doing well.”
Sam ended the post by calling his wife “the strongest and most beautiful person” he knows.
