Australian Ninja Warrior host Leila McKinnon has taken to Instagram to reveal she was rushed to the hospital for emergency knee surgery this week.
The 49-year-old host shared a snap on Tuesday of herself in a hospital bed alongside some X-rays of her knee, joking, "Hey what did you do on the school holidays? I don’t want to show off or anything but I got a fancy piercing in my knee".
"Did I? a) throw myself into a mosh pit to get closer to Harry Styles? b) throw myself at a mountain at high speed? c) throw myself down the stairs in a high-heel related accident?"
Her followers were quick to share their well wishes, with Zoe Foster Blake commenting, "OUCH. I can't in good conscience 'like' this."
Maria Thattil wrote, "Wishing you a speedy recovery," while Today's Allison Langdon added, "That is some sexy knee metal you got there, how was the flight home? Was thinking of you."
Karl Stefanovic also joked, "Oh no Lala. That’s two of my co-hosts down with dickyknees. Argh. Get well. X."
Tracy Grimshaw also jokingly added, "Bugger. Knees aren’t safe at Nine. They should all be trembling."
Karl and Tracy were referring to Allison who injured her knee while filming a segment on hydrofoiling in Queensland. The host later ended up requiring surgery.
Leila was announced as the new host for the 2022 season of Australian Ninja Warrior and will host alongside tennis star Jim Courier.
They will be joined by Will McMahon and Woody Whitelaw of KIIS FM's Will & Woody, who will be sideline commentators.
It comes after former hosts Rebecca Maddern and Ben Fordham left the show with Rebecca choosing to leave the Nine Network entirely and Ben leaving to focus on his 2BG breakfast show.
