According to a new study, Australia is now the sixth most expensive place in the world to live, ranking only behind Switzerland, Norway, Venezuela, Iceland and Denmark.
To reach the conclusion, movehub.com, a resource for people living abroad, mapped the cost of groceries, transportation, restaurants and utilities.
And while we were once nicknamed the land of dreams, we're actually only one percent better off in the housing market than New York - and America didn't even make the top 10 most expensive places in the world.
Meanwhile, Venezuala made a surprise entrance to the list - the South American nation is suffering from a fluctuating economy which has seen prices rise but wages remain low.
As for the best value places in the world, India came in at number 1, followed by Nepal, Pakistan, Tunisia and Algeria - but note the survey didn't take into account the quality of living.
