Jake Johnson is mourning the death of Jeff Baena.
On Tuesday, Jan. 7, the actor, 46, shared two photos of Aubrey Plaza's late husband on his Instagram after Baena died by suicide on Jan. 3 at age 47.
"I love you Jeff. Hate your last move. But still love you," Johnson wrote in his caption.
Baena was a writer and director whose credits include 2004's I Heart Huckabees, 2014's Life After Beth, 2020's Horse Girl and 2022's Spin Me Round. He and Plaza, 40, began dating in 2011 and married in 2021.
Johnson and Plaza costarred in the 2012 indie Safety Not Guaranteed; Johnson also appeared alongside Plaza in Baena's 2016 film Joshy, which he wrote and directed.

Plaza and Baena's family spoke out about his death in a statement Monday, Jan. 6: “This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time."
Filmmaker and actor Alex Ross Perry, who also appeared in Joshy, shared a tribute about his friendship with Baena on Instagram Jan. 8. "There will be no 'next time I stay at Jeff and Aubrey’s house,' which I did countless times. If you’ve seen me in LA in the last 10 years, it is probably because Jeff gave me a place to stay," he wrote.
"I loved all of the ideas he has been telling me about upcoming movies and stories he wanted to make and share. They were weird. They were unusual. And they were typical Jeff," Perry, 40, also wrote in that caption.
"Jeff brought me together with a lot of wonderful talented people, because that is what he loved doing. I hope my connections to them endure, and that we always talk about him. We are all better for having known Jeff."
