Aubrey Plaza Says She Still Hasn't Watched “The White Lotus”: 'I Had Trouble Opening My HBO Max Account'

Aubrey Plaza is revealing a secret.

In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, the actress, 40, admitted that she has never seen an episode of The White Lotus. Despite having a leading role on the hit series, Plaza explained why she never got around to watching it.

“I’m going to,” she said. “To be honest, I had trouble opening my HBO Max account when I was trying to watch it originally. I couldn’t figure out the password, and I usually just give up when I can’t figure out the passwords. I just can’t handle things like that.”

“I’d love a DVD but they don’t send DVD sets anymore,” she joked. “I ask them every time.”

The comedian played an uptight attorney named Harper who was married to wealthy, naive businessman Ethan (Will Sharpe) on season 2 of The White Lotus. She is also known for her roles in Parks and Recreation, Dirty Grandpa and the upcoming movie My Old Ass.

When asked which character she relates to most, Plaza had an answer that would surprise some.

“Probably my White Lotus character,” she said. “I mean in a lot of ways — not in every way. She was a lawyer like my mom, and there were some connections there.”

As for how she got into character for the award-winning Mike White drama, Plaza said it was a mix of convincing herself it was a matter of “survival,” and the fact that she had eaten like she was on an Italian vacation every day.

“So much linguine and clams,” she explained, then joking, “They demanded it, in fact, that we eat linguine and clams twice a day. It was some kind of psychological conditioning.”

The White Lotus is returning for a third season with a new cast, this time set in Thailand. Although not much is known about it, Walton Goggins is taking on the starring role alongside several big-name stars including Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Parker Posey and season 1 favorite Natasha Rothwell.

In June, he told PEOPLE that the cast was "so deep" in filming.

"I can't believe that we're in the middle of it right now, and all of these relationships and all of these friendships are just being cemented with all of these experiences that we're having,” he said.

Teasing the new season, Goggins said that the script “ran the gamut.”

"Mike [White] himself has said what he's said about season one and what that represents and what season two represents," he shared. "Season 3, without putting words in his mouth, will represent something very, very, very specific and, for my money, will resonate deeply to a very big audience, and certainly with the fans of what he does."

The White Lotus season 3 is set to premiere on HBO in 2025. Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Max.
