Trigger warning: This article contains mention of suicide.
Aubrey Plaza has deactivated her Instagram one week following her late husband Jeff Baena's death. While the actress's account was previously active just a few days ago, on Monday (January 13), a message on her page read, "Sorry, this page isn’t available. The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed."
Earlier this month, Baena, who was a writer and film director, died by suicide at age 47. According to TMZ, his body was discovered at a Los Angeles home around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 3, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support," Plaza, along with Baena's family, wrote in a statement in the wake of his death. They added, "Please respect our privacy during this time."
The Parks and Recreation actress and film director first met in 2011 over a game of Balderdash. The two quietly got married during the COVID-19 pandemic and during their relationship, Baena and Plaza teamed up on projects like The Little Hours, Spin Me Round, and the anthology series Cinema Toast.
Of working so closely with her husband, Plaza previously explained to People, “I think that when you’re with someone that is in your field, they understand what you’re dealing with on a deeper level. So obviously you are able to support each other and really understand kind of the journey that we’re both on."
“So I think that can be really great,” she continued. “But, you know, working with your partner can always be challenging. There’s a lot of things we do separately and I think that it’s all about balance."
