An Art-Filled Miami Beach Penthouse With a Rooftop Pool Just Listed for $30 Million
In Miami Beach, a massive waterfront penthouse with ties to two professional athletes has hit the market. Located in the city’s ritzy South of Fifth neighborhood, the triplex topper of the famously flamingo pink Portofino Tower was once owned by retired NHL player Sergei Fedorov. According to reports, the former Detroit Red Wing center purchased the home in 1997 for $2.3 million and shared it with his ex-wife, retired Russian tennis star Anna Kournikova. The couple split for good in 2003, and Fedorov held on to the apartment until 2016, when it was sold for a cool $11 million. Now, eight years later and after undergoing a glitzy $9 million renovation that renders it nearly unrecognizable from its Fedorov days, the sellers are asking a whopping $30 million for the place.
“This residence is a testament to refined opulence and sophisticated living,” notes the listing, which is being held together by Chad Carroll and Matthew Dugow with The Chad Carroll Group at Compass. Made up of four bedrooms and seven bathrooms, the eye-watering aerie spans nearly 6,000 square feet with 360-degree views of the Atlantic Ocean and the 305 skyline.Exact details of the remodel are scant, but it definitely included the addition of a dramatic floating glass staircase that acts as the centerpiece for the open-concept home. Naturally, the space is decked out top to bottom with premium materials, think everything from white Thassos marble to warm European oak flooring.

The sellers have quite a collection of contemporary art as well, including works by Damien Hirst, Katja Loher and Tigran Tsitoghdzyan, which are highlighted by bespoke 14k gold decorative spotlights. If interested in keeping all that eye candy with the apartment, the artwork can be negotiated separately.
Equally as impressive is the chef’s kitchen, which is kitted out with glossy white Minotti cabinetry with a hand-applied mural on the doors to the pantry. Elsewhere, the dining area has its own sophisticated touches, including a delicate Baccarat crystal chandelier. Upstairs, the primary suite has some of the best vistas that the abode has to offer, thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows. It also includes an en suite bath clad head to toe in great slabs of vanilla onyx marble. The dazzling penthouse’s pièce de résistance, however, is the bi-level rooftop terrace, where you’ll find a custom stainless-steel heated swimming pool with a waterfall, in addition to a sky-high observation deck with mesmerizing views over the water.

Looking back at this year, a report from Knight Frank named Miami as one of the top-performing luxury markets in the country in terms of price growth. The London-based property broker also identified New York as another U.S. hub for high-net-worth individuals to settle down. And, indeed, this penthouse would make a great winter base for a New Yorker.
