Jeff Bezos Shoots Down Claim That He's Spending $600 Million On His Wedding

Billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos discredited a Daily Mail article that claimed he and his fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, are having a $600 million wedding next weekend.

In a story published on Saturday, The Daily Mail reported that Bezos and Sánchez were set to get married on Dec. 28 at actor Kevin Costner’s 160-acre ranch in Aspen, Colorado. Bezos’ team reportedly denied the claim to the outlet.

Then, on Sunday, Bezos addressed the report while responding to a post on X, formerly called Twitter, from fellow billionaire Bill Ackman, who said that the $600 million figure was virtually impossible.

“This is not credible. Unless you are buying each of your guests a house, you can’t spend this much money,” Ackman wrote.

“Furthermore, this whole thing is completely false — none of this is happening. The old adage ‘don’t believe everything you read’ is even more true today than it ever has been,” Bezos replied to Ackman’s post.

The owner of The Washington Post continued on, saying, “Now lies can get ALL the way around the world before the truth can get its pants on. So be careful out there folks and don’t be gullible. Will be interesting to see if all the outlets that ‘covered’ and re-reported on this issue a correction when it comes and goes and doesn’t happen.”

Bezos has been engaged to Sánchez, a former journalist and licensed helicopter pilot, since May 2023. Previously, Bezos was married to novelist and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, while Sánchez was married to Patrick Whitesell, the executive chairman of William Morris Endeavor.
