Hollywood megastar headed to Australia

Action blockbuster legend Liam Neeson is coming back to Victoria for the filming of his new movie.

The third movie Neeson’s worked on in Victoria in the last four years, The Mongoose will see filming take place across regional Victoria, with production based out of a the Melbourne Screen Hub in Footscray.

Neeson will play the role of fictional war hero Ryan “Fang” Flanagan as he leads police on an epic cross-country manhunt after being falsely accused of war crimes.

It comes after Neeson last year came to Victoria for the filming of Code Entertainments Ice Road and its sequel Ice Road 2 earlier this year.

With The Mongoose also produced by the team by Code, producers Al Corley and Bart Rosenblatt said “Shooting in Victoria again is fantastic.”

“Melbourne is a great city to shoot in - the local crews and the technical capabilities of the virtual stages are terrific.”

The Mongoose is expected to create 453 jobs and inject $19 million into the local economy.

Funded in part by the state government’s VICSCREEN initiative, minister for creative industries Colin Brooks said The Mongoose “is part of a strong pipeline of local and international productions that will power our screen industry in 2025”.
