The Sun newspaper first reported on Dick Turpin’s demise. Deadline understands that Season 2 cannot be salvaged and that producer Big Talk Studios has disbanded the cast and crew.
The Sun reported that Fielding “failed to come to work” at the start of 2025 after the series paused for the Christmas holiday.
Apple, Big Talk, and Fielding’s rep at PBJ Management have been contacted for comment.
In the irreverent retelling of the 18th-century highwayman’s life, Turpin is the most famous but least likely of robbers, whose success is defined mostly by his charm, showmanship, and great hair. Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Turpin rides the highs and lows of his new endeavors, including a brush with celebrity.
The historical comedy’s first season also starred British comics including Ellie White, Dolly Wells and Mark Heap, and Apple said Season 2 would feature “a host of great British comedy talent.”
Written by Fielding, Richard Naylor and Jon Brittain, the series was executive produced by Kenton Allen, Fielding, Victoria Grew, Anthony Wilcox and Ben Palmer, while Naylor and Brittain are co-EPs. Palmer also directs.
