Annette Bening Joins Anya Taylor-Joy in Apple TV+ Series ‘Lucky’
Annette Bening is set to star alongside Anya Taylor-Joy in the upcoming Apple TV+ limited series “Lucky,” Variety has learned.
It was announced that Taylor-Joy would star in the series back in December. It is based on the novel of the same name by Marissa Stapley. The book was a New York Times bestseller and a selection for Reese Witherspoon’s Reese’s Book Club.

Per the official description, Taylor-Joy stars as “a young woman who left behind the life of crime she was raised in years ago, but must now embrace her darker, criminal side one final time in a desperate attempt to escape her past.”
Bening will appear in the role of Priscilla. This marks the second major TV role she has lined up in the past few years, with Bening having recently starred in the Peacock drama “Apples Never Fall.” That show was based on the book of the same name by “Big Little Lies” author Liane Moriarty.
Bening is one of the most celebrated film actresses of her time, and has received five Academy Award nominations throughout her career. Those were for: “The Grifters,” “American Beauty,” “Being Julia,” “The Kids Are Alright,” and “Nyad.” She won a Golden Globe for both “Being Julia” and “The Kids Are Alright,” while she was nominated for “Nyad” and “American Beauty.” She also got Golden Globe nods for the films “Bugsy,” “The American President,” “Mrs. Harris,” “Running with Scissors,” “20th Century Women,” and “The Report.”
She is repped by CAA and Gochman Law Group.
Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas are adapting “Lucky” for the screen and will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Tropper executive produces under his overall deal with Apple via Tropper Ink. Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter executive produce for Hello Sunshine, a part of Candle Media. Taylor-Joy executive produces under her Ladykiller Films banner. Jonathan Van Tulleken will direct several episodes, including the pilot, and serve as executive producer. Apple Studios will produce.
