Andrew Garfield Said He's Never Used His Real Voice In A Movie Until Now
Turns out we seldom, if ever, hear what Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh actually sound like.
The two are starring in the upcoming movie We Live in Time, which hits theaters Oct. 11. The press cycle for the project has led some to remark how the English actors typically appear in movies where they have to do American accents.
In a new TikTok, the pair responded to a comment that read, "I think that's the first time that I heard Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield talk in their own accent."
“It’s my second movie of doing my own voice,” Florence said in response. “But it has been a long time. In fact, many people think that when I speak in my accent in interviews, that I'm lying and I'm putting on a fake one, and that isn't true.”
“I think it’s the first time I’m using my [real voice],” Andrew added. “Yeah, that’s true. I think it's true.”
Cue some people finding out that Andrew has an English accent for the first time:
Now, the more learned fans of Andrew will point out that he has used an English accent in some movies, such as Never Let Me Go, The Other Boleyn Girl, and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. However, a cursory glance through those movies shows that he did tweak his original accent for the roles.
As Florence added: "You heard it here, folks."
