Andra Day, Colman Domingo to headline star-studded Gordon Parks Foundation gala

The Gordon Parks Foundation's annual gala is set to be another star-studded event.

The foundation's annual awards dinner and auction connects titans in art, music, film, fashion and philanthropy, and this year is no different – Grammy winner Andra Day is set to perform at this year's event, while Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo will present top Vogue editor Anna Wintour with an award, USA TODAY can exclusively announce.

The 2025 event, which celebrates multidisciplinary artist and talented photographer Gordon Parks' legacy, will honor trailblazing model and activist Bethann Hardison, contemporary artist Rashid Johnson and political leader Ambassador Andrew Young alongside Wintour.

Wintour and Domingo are fresh off major career moments, with the Condé Nast chief content officer receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom from former President Joe Biden earlier this month, and the actor earning a best actor Oscar nomination for his changemaking role in "Sing Sing."

"The Gordon Parks Foundation Gala is our homecoming. While every year is different and exciting, the consistency of likeminded and creative people coming together to celebrate Gordon is a testament to his legacy," the foundation's executive director Peter W. Kunhardt, Jr. said in an exclusive statement to USA TODAY.

"Gordon was a catalyst for social justice. His pictures, his words, his actions spoke truth and while he exposed the harshness of poverty and racism, his goal was to spread awareness and help people. At the heart of the Foundation's mission are Gordon's own words," Kunhardt said. "He described his work as 'Our common search for a better life and a better world.' His camera was his weapon of choice to fight racism and poverty. For he knew that art could be a powerful weapon, more potent than violence, and that through pictures and words, he could open our eyes."

Proceeds from the event, which last year brought in more than $2 million, support scholarships, prizes, fellowships and year-round educational programming.

The foundation has "granted nearly 200 scholarships to students across the country, established a fellowship program supporting artists and writers annually, mounted hundreds of exhibitions, published over 20 books, established an annual book prize and most recently established a fund to support and acquire artwork of senior artists who have been predominately overlooked," according to Kunhardt.
