Amy Schumer Details 'Horrible Experience' Using Ozempic for Weight Loss

Once upon a time, Amy Schumer was one of the countless stars falling in line for the Ozempic craze, but, despite losing 30 pounds with the help of the Type 2 diabetes drug, the comedian had an overall "horrible experience" with it.

The Trainwreck star stopped by Howard Stern's radio show on Wed., Jan. 29, and opened up about how miserable she felt while taking the injections.

Unfortunately, Schumer is "extremely prone to nausea" thanks to the expression of her GDF15 gene, which is also why she got "so sick" while she was pregnant with her first child, a son named Gene, whom she shares with husband Chris Fischer.

When she tried Ozempic about three years ago, she said it left her "bedridden."

"I was like, vomiting — and then you have no energy," she recalled. However, she also recognizes that her experience is not necessarily the norm, and isn't sharing it to scare anyone away. "But other people take it and they’re all good. God bless them,” she added.

But for her, she was left struggling to even lift her head off the pillow as her 5-year-old asked her to play tag. "I was like, shriveling away," she emphasized, noting that her weight loss was "so quick."

"I looked great," she admitted, "but what's the point" when she couldn't function?

Schumer's appearance has long been the target of internet trolls, with the actress opening up last year about the years-long impact of the negative commentary.

"I think they’re mad that I’m not thinner. I think they’re mad I’m not prettier and that I still feel like I have a right to speak,” she said back in February.

Around the same time, she was defending herself from harsh critics after some press appearances ignited questions about her face, which they said looked "swollen" and "puffier" than normal.

However, those kinds of comments ultimately led to a new diagnosis for Schumer, who has a hormonal disorder called Cushing Syndrome that was caused by high-dose steroid injections she was receiving to help with scars from her breast reduction and C-section.

What trolls were targeting was an actual symptom called "moon face," but, thankfully, after several MRIs and countless blood draws, Schumer went from "thinking I may not be around to see my son grow up" to confirmation that the symptoms will eventually "work itself out."
