Amazon MGM Studios Names Tom Lieber Head Of Scripted Series UK In Restructuring

Tom Lieber, who has been overseeing genre programming — including hits like The Boys and Fallout –under Laura Lancaster, Head, Co-Pro Television and Ongoing Series at Amazon MGM Studios, has been elevated to Head of Scripted Series, UK as part of a reorg that impacts originals coming from the UK and Northern Europe. Amazon MGM Studios Head of Television Vernon Sanders just made the announcement internally.

“In this new role, Tom will provide single-threaded leadership of all new development and ongoing series produced in the UK,” Sanders said in a memo, a copy of which was obtained by Deadline.

Lieber, will absorb the responsibilities of Rola Bauer, who recently exited as Amazon MGM Studios Head of Pan-English original content overseeing scripted series originating out of the UK. Her team and slate will now be folded into Lieber’s new group.

In further consolidation, all new scripted development from Tara Erer, Head Of Northern Europe Originals, and her team will be going through Lieber and his group.

Erer will continue to shepherd her existing slate of shows currently in post-production and development, including Malice, The Devils Hour, and The Rig S2. She will also continue overseeing UK unscripted content, UK-based films, and all other International Originals for Northern Europe (including Germany, the Nordics, the Netherlands, Turkey, and Poland), reporting to James Farrell, VP International Content.

In addition to his new responsibilities, Lieber will maintain oversight of ongoing genre series that have been under his purview, including The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power, which films in the UK, Fallout, The Wheel of Time, and The Boys. Based in London, he will continue to report to Lancaster.

“With the recent acquisition of Bray Film Studios and our growing slate of UK-based television productions, we will benefit from Tom’s success in managing some of our most impactful global tentpole series,” Sanders said. “He is well suited to help lead our commitment to further deepen our relationships with the UK creative community.”

Upcoming 2025 titles from Erer’s team include Clarkson’s Farm S4 and Maxton Hall S2, and new film releases Deep Cover, My Fault London, and Picture This.

Before joining Amazon MGM Studios, Lieber was an executive at Marvel Television, where he served as co-executive producer on the studio’s Netflix suite of series, and at UCP. He also was an on-the-ground producer for Syfy/UCP’s series Dominion in South Africa.
