All the movies and TV shows you should be streaming this week
Got a weekend on the couch planned, but have no idea what to watch? We've got your back!
Here's everything you should be watching across Netflix, Stan, Amazon Prime, Disney+ and Binge!
I'll Be Gone In The Dark - Binge
Are you into true crime? Well, I'll Be Gone In The Dark, which lands on Binge on Sunday August 9, is perfect for you.
Based on the best-selling book by Michelle McNamara, this six-part docuseries dives into the search for the violent serial killer she dubbed the ‘Golden State Killer’. The series draws from extensive archival footage and police files as well as exclusive new interviews with detectives, survivors and family members of the killer to weave together a picture of a complex and flawed investigation.
Black Is King - Disney+
A breathtaking visual album by Beyonce where she celebrates Black empowerment, Black Is King loosely follows the story of The Lion King. A young prince is displaced from his kingdom and is on a journey to reclaim the throne.
There are a number of celeb cameos from Jay-Z, the three children they share, Kelly Rowland, Lupita Nyong'o, Naomi Campbell, Pharrell Williams and more.
World's Most Wanted - Netflix
World's Most Wanted covers five of the most notorious criminals from around the world, the heinous crimes they committed and why they've evaded capture for so long. Though, be warned: if blood and gore isn't your thing, you might want to be ready to skip certain scenes.
Work It - Netflix
If dancing is more your thing, then give Work It a whirl! Quinn is a very awkward high school senior, who wants nothing more than to get into the college her late father attended. To do so, she will need to transform herself and a crew of misfits into dance champions. It might not sound like it makes sense, but hey, it's a fun watch.
Little Birds - Stan
Based on erotic short stories, Little Birds is set in Tangier in 1955 and follows heiress Lucy Savage as she arrives in Morocco from the US where she is seeking freedom from her dysfunctional family home.
However, Lucy soon finds out that the dysfunction of her family is nothing compared to life in Tangier.
Skinford and Skinford: Chapter 2 - Stan
An Aussie-made film, Skinford follows Jimmy 'Skinny' Skinford, who finds himself kidnapped and digging his own grave when he miraculously finds a woman named Zophia, who's been buried alive and can't seem to die. Her gift extends to those she touches and this takes Skinny on a wild ride as they attempt to escape a number of seriously bad crooks.
Skinford: Chapter 2 is also available to stream on Stan and sees Skinny and Zophia on the run as they try to find a cure for her immortality.
Chimerica - Stan
This thrilling drama is a four-part miniseries based on the play of the same name about a disgraced photojournalist who travels to China in the hope of restoring his reputation after being accused of manipulating a photograph.
Arrival - Amazon Primes
Missed this one at the cinemas? Never fear, because it's on Amazon Prime from August 8! Amy Adams stars as Louise Banks, a linguistics expert, tasked with interpreting the language of aliens who have come to earth in a mysterious spaceship. Even if you're not a science fiction fan, this movie is stunning and worth a watch.
