Aldi shoppers rave about $5.99 freezer find with more flavour than $19 option: 'So addicted'
If you love ice-cream and gelato but can't swing the price of Messina, Aldi has the answer.
There's nothing better on a hot summer's day than indulging in a big old bowl of refreshing ice cream or gelato. Okay, who am I kidding? There's nothing better than a big bowl of ice cream on ANY day - hot or cold!
While there are some well-known places to get a scoop or two when the craving strikes, sometimes you just don't feel like lining up for 20 minutes to pay $7 for a single serving of your favourite flavour. That's why Aldi shoppers are so excited - because they've found an affordable solution to this big summer problem!
The budget retailer is currently stocking 500ml tubs of gelato in flavours like lemon, pistachio and speculoos (Biscoff) for just $5.99 - a far cry from the $19 you'd pay at Messina for the same amount of sugary goodness.

Aussie content creator Nectorious Papi, who shares his foodie finds with his 63k followers on TikTok, raved about the freezer aisle addition in a recent video, telling his fans to "run, don't walk" to Aldi.
Aldi shoppers rave about $5.99 Messina alternative
"I wasn't expecting much from this because I didn't see any swirls," he said of the pistachio flavour. "I wanted to see some like pistachio spread through there or some cream, but it doesn't need it. It's a super strong pistachio taste - nice, sweet.
"It's smooth creamy and then obviously you've got the pistachios on top for that crunch. This one is awesome"
"Ugh you’re joking, I just bought the Messina pistachio tub but I also need to try this 😂," one of his followers said.
'How does it compare to pistachio Messina?" another asked.
"Much stronger pistachio taste," was his reply.
Aldi fans have also been raving about the gelato on Facebook, with one person saying "I’m so addicted to pistachio one."
"I can't buy these again, I bought the pistachio one last week and ate it in one sitting, I am borderline lactose intolerant it was not good...," was another comment.
Speculoos/Biscoff flavour a huge hit too
Oh but wait, there is more my fellow gluttons! The gelato also comes in the speculoos flavour that I mentioned previously and people are loving it.
"Onto the Speculoos one," Nectorious Papi says in his video. "Okay, this smells like Biscoff. So not quite Biscoff. It's much more of a cinnamon taste so closer to the Speculoos biscuits to be honest. It's still really nice the gelato itself is very caramel.
"This reminds me more of the Ben and Jerry's Speculoos flavour rather than a Biscoff ice cream. So if you love cinnamon with caramel, then you'll like this one It's not really Biscoff, but still really nice either way cheap. Really nice creamy tasty."
Shoppers love lemon
The praise continued on Facebook as shoppers weighed in on their experience with the freezer item with comments such as:
"Omg, I got this today. It's incredible!"
"I got this today, soooo good" and "Bought this last week. Absolutely delicious."
And of course, we can't forget our faithful lemon friend, which people also said they loved.
"I’m stuck on lemon it’s so good," one shopper said.
