Aldi is at it again and causing a stir by bringing back yet another of its wildly popular Special Buys products.
This time, the highly-sought-after woodfire pizza oven is set to make its grand return to stores on Saturday, September 26 and the news has sent shoppers into a tailspin.
If the excitement over on social media is anything to go by, the $179 pizza and charcoal BBQ oven combo is sure to be snapped up quickly.
“I am getting this for sure,” declared one Aldi fan on Facebook.
“Wow I want one!” said another.
Several pointed out that the German retailer’s offering was far more affordable than those on sale at Bunnings, which range from $349 to a whopping $2,399.
“That is excellent value,” one wrote.
“Cheaper than Bunnings,” said another.
Others who were lucky enough to grab the hot item when it was available in the past piped up with their praise.
“We have had ours for 2 years it's great,” wrote one.
“Love love ours,” said another.
One enthusiastic shopper was already coordinating their in-store plan of attack with a friend, writing, “Need to get down early.”
Aldi Special Buys shortage
Other Facebook users were less positive about how many pizza ovens will be made available.
“And all stores will receive approximately two for customers,” speculated one.
“Better get there at 6 am as they will probably only have two or three,” said another.
“We wanted an airfryer last week. Got there early and were fifth in line but missed out! There were about fifty or sixty people behind us,” they added.
One user referenced the fact that Victorian shoppers, in particular, were left out in the cold when it came to the restocking of Aldi’s infamous air fryer and suggested that there might be a repeat with the pizza oven.
“I bet Aldis in Victoria don’t get them in, they never got in any air fryer ovens!”
In order to discourage Victorian shoppers from flocking to stores, Aldi announced that it was pulling four large-sized items from shelves ahead of the Special Buys sale on September 9.
The 16L Multifunction Air Fryer along with the Smart Wi-Fi 3L Thermo Cooker, the 14 Place Stainless Steel Dishwasher and the Electric Oven 80L were all withheld.
“To ensure that we are encouraging our customers to follow the Victorian State Government’s Stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions, that only one person per household can leave home to get necessary goods and services, we have removed some Special Buys products from our Victorian stores (plus Albury & Lavington stores) that require two people to safely lift and purchase the product,” the Aldi website stated.
Aldi has confirmed to Yahoo Lifestyle that the woodfire pizza oven will be on sale in Victoria.
