Adele 'embarrassed' and 'self-conscious' by 44kg weight loss

Adele is reportedly feeling a little embarrassed and self-conscious of her recent 44kg weight loss, which she unveiled for her 32nd birthday last week.

A source spoke to Heat magazine and revealed all the attention has been a little overwhelming for the singer, "Adele is finding the attention very embarrassing. She admits that although she may now look the best she ever has, she still gets incredibly self-conscious about her appearance.

"She sometimes finds it hard to believe that she looks as good as people say she does. She says she’s shocked when she looks in the mirror, but she’s really enjoying buying so many new clothes.

"She is having a blast trying things on – from skimpy dresses to statement red-carpet creations. It’s like she’s making up for lost time, and she’s spent thousands of dollars!"

Adele, who rarely posts on Instagram with her most recent snaps months apart, certainly surprised fans when she shared the birthday snap.

She captioned the photo, "Thank you for the birthday love. I hope you’re all staying safe and sane during this crazy time. I’d like to thank all of our first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe while risking their lives! You are truly our angels."

Fans and fellow celebs quickly began commenting on the photo with many commenting on how great she looks.

Leroy Sanchez joked, "And the internet breaks in 3... 2... 1..."

Todrick Hall commented, "You were ALWAYS beautiful, but DAMN this transformation has me WEAK! YOU GO GIRL. You are absolutely glowing!"

Jenni Farley AKA JWoww wrote, "My jaw just hit the floor."

An insider recently told E! News that the singer is very disciplined when it comes to her health and fitness.

"She goes to different gyms. She goes early in the morning and meets with her trainer.

"She gets her workout in first thing. She works out for about an hour and leaves drenched in sweat and looking like she worked very hard."

They added, "She's also staying active going on walks and getting in a lot of steps. She is in a groove."

What is the Sirtfood diet?

It's believed that Adele follows the Sirtfood diet, which is based on research into sirloins (SIRTs), which are seven proteins found in the body that regulate things like metabolism, inflammation and lifespan according to Healthline.

Top 'sirtfoods' include kale, strawberries, red wine, dark chocolate, buckwheat, turmeric, green tea, coffee, and blueberries.

For the first three days of the diet one eats just 1000 calories a day, this involves three green juices and one sirtfood-rich meal per day. They then increase this to 1500 on days four to seven, which includes two juices and two sirtfood-rich meals.

The second phase is known as the maintenance phase. There is no calorie limit involved here, but you need to eat three sirtfood-rich meals and one green juice a day.

You then repeat the two phases until you reach your desired weight loss.
