Adele was 'f***ing devastated' by divorce: 'Didn't do a good job'

Adele has admitted to being "f***ing devastated" by her divorce from Simon Konecki, adding she realised she "no longer knew who she was".

The 33-year-old singer shared the confession to Rolling Stone with the singer also gracing the cover of the magazine.

She confessed she had become so far from the person she was before they were married that she made the decision to walk away from the marriage.

Adele, who is now dating sports agent Rich Paul, revealed that her single life lasted barely more than "five seconds" before friends began setting her up on blind dates, all of which failed.

"It made me really sad," Adele said of her marriage ending. "Then having so many people that I don't know, know that I didn't make that work... it f*****g devastated me.

"I was embarrassed. No one made me feel embarrassed, but you feel like you didn't do a good job."

She also shared with the publication that she suffered both psychological and physical problems following the split, revealing she was depressed and bed-ridden at first.

Adele said she also found out she was allergic to most forms of gluten, something that can cause depression as a side effect.

She then threw herself into "anything that could soothe" her anxiety, including travelling "anywhere where there's meant to be brilliant energy".

The singer also shared her decision to delay her highly anticipated album 30, which she wrote about her split, by more than a year.

"If it wasn't coming out now, I think I probably would never put it out," she said. "I know I would've changed my mind and been like, 'It's moved on. Let's start the next album.' And I couldn't do that to this album. I feel like it deserves to come out."

Adele's new relationship came as a surprise to her, with the singer admitting she thought it would be difficult to find someone who wasn't intimidated by her fame. However, Rich is very successful in his own right and represents some of the most prominent NBA players in the business.

She joked about friends attempting to set her up on blind dates, saying: "You can’t set me up on a f**king blind date! I’m like, 'How’s that going to work?' There’ll be paparazzi outside and someone will call [gossip site] DeuxMoi, or whatever it’s f**king called! It ain’t happening."

Speaking of her new album, the singer said she wouldn't be touring the world as she did for her previous album 25, due to the ongoing Covid pandemic.
