Addison Rae Gets Streaming Boost on Spotify Following ‘Diet Pepsi’ Single Release

Addison Rae is having a streaming moment. The singer, who released her debut single “Obsessed” in 2021, is currently riding high off the success of her latest “Diet Pepsi,” a smoky mid-tempo tune that’s been picking up steam since it dropped last month.

Rae’s global monthly listeners on Spotify have increased by more than 450 percent, hitting an all-time career-high with 8.2 million, Variety can confirm. She’s also gotten a 1,180 percent year-over-year increase in global monthly listeners between the release of her “AR” EP in Aug. 2023 (637,000 monthly listeners) and today (8.2 million).

Beyond that, “Diet Pepsi” is also having a growth spurt on Spotify, with global streams increasing more than 200 percent since its release on Aug. 8. In that same timespan, global streams of Rae’s catalog on the DSP have increased almost 900 percent. The “Diet Pepsi” boost is aided by significant playlisting across Spotify’s ecosystem, with features on Today’s Top Hits, Pop Rising and more.

Rae is currently riding high on the steady success of “Diet Pepsi,” which has had a slow burn over the past month. It most recently cracked the Billboard Hot 100, where it’s currently sitting at No. 81, and became a viral sound on TikTok where it’s been used in more than 243,000 videos. On Spotify, it’s close to becoming her most-streamed song with 56.3 million listens, just a few ticks behind “Obsessed” (56.6 million).

The singer, who just joined Charli XCX and Troye Sivan at Madison Square Garden on Monday to perform “Diet Pepsi,” released her “AR” EP on Aug. 18, 2023. She also recently duetted with Charli XCX and A.G. Cook on the “Von Dutch” remix.
