Adam Sandler considered casting Travis Kelce as his son in “Happy Gilmore 2:” 'Imagine if Travis was my first baby'

"How funny that would be?"

Adam Sandler has some serious FORE-sight.

The actor revealed that he considered casting Travis Kelce in Happy Gilmore 2 months before the Kansas City Chiefs tight end publicly declared his desire to be in the sequel to the 1996 golf comedy.

“We were talking about you playing my son while we were writing it, literally, like six months ago,” Sandler said on Wednesday’s episode of Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast. “We were like, ‘Imagine if Travis was my first baby, how funny that would be?’ Just a badass.”

Travis, who was sporting a Happy Gilmore hat during the interview, chimed in to share that he considers his golf skills up to par to potentially play Happy Junior.

“I think I got the swing down,” he said, referring to Happy’s signature drive. “I was out there the other day and it was literally the day after you went on Fallon and told everybody and I was like, man, you know what, I’ve just gotta do a ceremonial one. And I f---ing ripped it. And it felt so good.”

Sandler, however, hasn’t always had that much luck with it. “I’ve gotta say, when I’m doing the Happy Gilmore swing, I’m maybe one for four with it,” he teased. “I call my own cuts.”

Sandler previously confirmed that Travis will make an appearance in the film while visiting The Tonight Show last week, noting at the time that they had “a nice something” for the athlete to sink his teeth into.

He teased the scene a little more while speaking with the Kelce brothers. "First of all, Travis, we’re gonna have fun because the scene you’re doing is with so many great golfers,” Sandler said. “It’s gonna be amazing, you’re going to be funny as hell.”

According to Sandler, fans will encounter a “different” Happy Gilmore at the beginning of the sequel. “He’s a bit of a mess when you meet Happy,” he explained. “And then we kind of get his life cooking again.”
