Abbie Chatfield sparks major KitKat debate: 'Inexcusable'

An Instagram story by former Bachelor star Abbie Chatfield has again reignited the age-old debate around how to 'correctly' eat a KitKat.

During her HIT Network radio show Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield this week, the podcast host was called out by her executive producer Max Corstorphan for a "despicable and inexcusable" act.

"50% of the team is really unhappy with something that you've done and I think most people will be very unhappy when they find out what it is," Max said.

"What have I done maxi??" Abbie questioned

"I take you back to the weekend where you're, you know, posting stories in the car," Max continued. "Having a nice time. Having a nice break. Maybe a break for a KitKat."

"Oh I know what this is," Abbie said, before Max called her out for not breaking off individual fingers of her KitKat before eating it.

"The poor people that are watching your stories, their eyes are assaulted by you not snapping off a singular finger from the KitKat and nibbling on it like one should. Like the monster that you are, you just munch munch munch, eating into four fingers at a time," he said.

"You eat Kit Kat like a monster!"

Abbie seemed unfazed by the accusation, standing by her KitKat eating choice, going so far as to again demonstrate it for her colleague.

It's the same ongoing debate that was in the spotlight late last year after a host of viral TikTok videos split the general population into two groups - people that eat the chocolate finger by finger, or those who eat it whole.

Even Sunrise hosts debated the 'correct' way to eat a KitKat at the time, with Matt Doran calling it "barbaric" to eat it whole.

Abbie's latest post sparked a debate among her listeners as well.

"I just can’t !!! It has to be broken up !!!! It just didn’t give the same satisfaction eaten all together," one person commented.

"Yup … was triggered," said another, while a third wrote: "YES! the first thing I noticed."

Others however were big fans of eating it in one go.

"It tastes better this way @abbiechatfield I’m with you girl," one person said.

"Sorry if I’m hormonal I’m not breaking individual fingers off I will devour that sucker," another agreed.

It comes after another of Abbie Chatfield's posts on social media sparked a major online debate about the humble Bunnings snag.

In January the 26-year-old shared a sweet selfie with her boyfriend, former Bachelorette contestant Konrad Bien Stephens, at the iconic 'Big Prawn' in Ballina on the NSW north coast.

The cute couple had just picked up some BBQ snags from a local Bunnings. But it wasn't the choice of condiments that had Abbie's followers in a frenzy — it was the bread that encased the delicious meal that raised eyebrows, with people from Western Australia absolutely flabbergasted by the offering.

"How come your snags are in a piece of bread, in Perth they put them in buns," one person commented.
