A24 Taps Adobe Chief Strategy Officer Scott Belsky To Lead Technology & Innovation Projects

Scott Belsky, Adobe’s chief strategy officer and EVP for Design & Emerging Products, is joining A24 to oversee technology and innovation at the indie studio.

He starts in March, based in New York. He will remain an advisor to Adobe, but focus his work at A24 to supporting filmmakers, providing tools and resources for their creative vision.

There were no specifics in Belsky’s post on X announcing his new gig, but he said he’ll be “kicking off a few projects” and is “eager to get to work.”

A24 has expanded significantly in size and stature since its launch in 2012 but does not currently have a executive focused on technology.

Belsky, 44, previously founded Behance, an online platform connecting creative professionals to showcase their work, discover new talent and advance their careers – described as a kind of LinkedIn for artists. He sold it to Adobe in 2012.

He serves on the board of Atlassian, The Museum of Modern Art and the entrepreneurship program at Cornell University and is an early advisor and investor in Pinterest, Uber, sweetgreen, Good Inside, Ramp and other startups. His books include The Messy Middle (2018) and Making Ideas Happen (2010), and Portfolio Imprint).

In his post on X today announcing his new gig, Belsky said: “I’ll be shifting gears over the coming months + jumping into the fast-evolving world of filmmaking and storytelling (a longtime passion). excited to join @A24 – an independent studio i have long admired – as a partner and will be kicking off a few special projects within …

“…as i jump into my next chapter at A24, I’m excited to finally be NYC-based (and will continue supporting founders as an investor/product advisor, writing “Implications,” and serving on the Atlassian board). but right now i’m just very grateful to my colleagues at @Adobe, excited about the company’s path ahead (and our collaborations to come!), and eager to get to work w/ my new partners supporting the world’s best storytellers at A24.”

Adobe’s chief marketing officer Laura Balazas said in a blog post, “I’m excited to see how [Belsky’s] experience developing technology will translate to the entertainment industry. .. We have always partnered with studios around the world, and we have already begun conversations with Scott and A24 on how the two companies can partner to progress the art of storytelling.”

Adobe Creative Cloud applications power many film and TV projects including Everything Everywhere All at Once, Anora and TV series The Bear, she noted. Its products could be sampled and discussed at Adobe House at the Sundance Film Festival this past week.

A24 has expanded from film to television series, documentaries, music, publishing, consumer products and NYC’s Cherry Lane Theater. It has a library of over 150 films and 50 TV series, earning critical and commercial acclaim with more than 18 Oscars, 18 Golden Globes, and 18 Emmys. Films from The Brutalist, Babygirl, Queer and Heretic have been in the mix this awards season.

Perhaps the key thing it’s done in a challenging post-Covid period for indie film, develop a hip brand for a passionate and young fan base with library titles including Midsommar and Moonlight, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Talk To Me and Uncut Gems. Euphoria, Beef and Ramy are standout series.
