It's hard to believe that Disney's The Santa Clause was released 30 years ago, yes 3-0! The Tim Allen-led Christmas film is still such a classic to this day and brings back all those sweet childhood memories.

But it seems as though there are several hidden details that we all missed while watching this movie over the years! In case you've been living under a rock for the last three decades, the movie sees a single dad named Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) accidentally cause Santa Claus to fall to his supposed death on Christmas Eve.

Santa's body disappears, and all that is left is his suit and a card that states that if anything were to happen to him, someone should put the suit on, and the reindeer would know what to do. Scott and his son, Charlie (Eric Lloyd) find the reindeer and finish Santa's Christmas Eve trip and deliveries, later winding up at the North Pole, where Scott finds out he must become the new Santa – something that he unwittingly signed up for by wearing the suit, hence The Santa ClausE.

Scott is told he has a year to get his affairs in order and must return to the North Pole on Thanksgiving the following year. During that time, Scott slowly transforms into jolly Saint Nick – with a white beard, a large belly, and all! Of course, craziness ensues.

Now, 30 years later, eagle-eyed fans have noticed a wild hidden detail in the movie that most of us never saw!

It turns out there are numerous hidden elves in the movie who are in place to ensure Scott fulfils his destiny of becoming Santa Claus.

Even before Scott and Charlie find the late Santa at their house, there are clues that the single dad was always meant to become Saint Nick.

On Christmas Eve, Scott and Charlie find themselves at Denny's when their dinner plans are ruined, and as they enter, an elf boy is seen in the background of the scene in a red scarf. Before he leaves Denny's, he stops to look at the father and son sitting down. It seems the elf boy knew the father and son would end up at Denny's, even though they had no idea themselves!

Shortly after their Christmas Eve adventure, Charlie returns to school and Scott visits for Career Day. Charlie introduces his father as Santa Claus, leaving Scott nervously explaining his similarities to Santa, joking that he, as a marketing exec at a toy company, helps deliver toys around the world and works hard one day a year.

During this scene, another elf boy sits behind Charlie and stands out as the only child who doesn't laugh at Charlie's confession that his dad is Santa.

It would seem that the elf boy is making sure that Charlie is following through with his promise to get his "affairs in order" before next Christmas.

In another scene, Charlie and Scott go for a walk in the park. While the pair have a conversation about Scott's 'secret identity', an elf girl (who spoke to him at the North Pole on Christmas Eve) is seen walking in the opposite direction, looking at the father and son, seemingly irritated that Scott is denying that he is Santa.

This elf returns, watching over Scott at one of Charlie's soccer games. By this time, Scott has started his physical transformation into Santa and is being recognised by children who start to line up to tell him what they want for Christmas. The elf girl is seen monitoring the event and even has a subtle interaction with Scott.

Several of these elves who appeared in the background of these scenes are also seen toward the end of the film, where Scott as Santa takes off from his ex-wife's rooftop with the reindeer. The elves are clearly happy to see Scott has accepted his fate and gather together to see Santa take off. The watching elves' job is finally done.

TikToker @wittleghosty shared several clips where hidden elves are seen throughout the movie, writing, "29 years of watching this movie and I never noticed this..."

"The whole time?! The the... THE WHOLE TIME?!" one baffled user responded.

"Hold on... Even at Denny's?" another shocked fan said.

"That's why the boy behind him didn't laugh when he said his Dad was Santa Claus!" a third said of the classroom elf.

TikToker @adventureswithcolleen points out that as well as the Denny's elf, there's another elf we see right at the beginning of the movie.

"Omg, I’m so mad at myself!" one user said. "This is my fave holiday movie... seen it an inordinate amount of times & I only ever noticed the elves at beginning & end!"

"Wha... Wow, you just blew my mind!" another wrote.

"As many times as I have watched this movie, I never noticed this!" a third said.

"Wait. The first two are BEFORE the old Santa dies," someone else added. "How did they know Santa would fall off THAT roof and that HE would take over?"

"He was always meant to be Santa so their job was to make sure it went as planned," another fan responded.

"I'm 38 and my life was a lie," another joked.

Time for a re-watch, I think!
