2025 SAG Awards nominations revealed: See the full list, including Angelina Jolie snub, major “Wicked ”noms
Nominees were listed via press release after Joey King and Cooper Koch's live announcement was canceled amid the L.A. wildfires.
Fresh from Demi Moore, Adrien Brody, and more major awards contenders thickening the plot of the Oscars race at Sunday's Golden Globes, the 2025 SAG Awards nominations are here to lift its new class of nominees' prospects even further.
Previously set to be announced live by stars Joey King and Cooper Koch, the SAG Awards nominations presentation was canceled amid the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires ravaging the area. Still, the organization revealed its annual set of honorees representing excellence in acting and stunt performing across the 2024 calendar year via press release, with nominees being determined by a nominating committee comprised of voters from SAG-AFTRA, Hollywood's largest industry union.
Surprises among the nominations announcement include a huge snub for Maria's Angelina Jolie, who now faces an incredibly difficult climb toward a potential Oscar nomination after missing out on the BAFTA longlist and losing at Sunday's Golden Globes. Wicked and A Complete Unknown, however, also showed up in huge ways, with stars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey,Timothée Chalamet, Edward Norton, and Monica Barbaro all scoring individual nods atop ensemble nominations, too.
The announcement came amid the third consecutive year Netflix has hosted the SAG Awards following the expiration of the group's partnership with TBS and TNT for rights to the annual telecast.
Following Sunday's Golden Globes ceremony, the likes of leading winners Moore (The Substance), Brody (The Brutalist), and Fernanda Torres (I'm Still Here), along with supporting winners Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez) and Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain) amplified in the run-up to the Jan. 17 Oscar nominations.
The SAG Awards typically share significant nominees with the Oscars, as both groups also share a large number of voting members that cross over into both organizations.
As a result, the SAG Awards are often seen as a foreteller of the Oscars' tastes in the acting categories. However, they sometimes nominate outlying contenders who end up going nowhere else in the awards race (like, for example, Sarah Silverman in 2015's I Smile Back).
Across the last 10 years, SAG's top prize, the ensemble award, has gone to six films that went on to win Best Picture at the Oscars, including last year's victor Oppenheimer. That number jumps to seven for Best Actress, eight for Best Actor, nine for Best Supporting Actress, and is a clean sweep for Best Supporting Actor, with the SAG Awards and Oscars sharing all 10 winners in that category.
Ahead of the 2025 ceremony, SAG previously announced Jane Fonda as the recipient of the Life Achievement Award for excellence in career accomplishments as an actor.
The 2025 SAG Awards stream live on Netflix beginning Sunday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall. See the full list of 2025 SAG Awards nominations below.
