Cynthia Erivo Embraces Volume in Custom Loewe Gown at 2025 National Board of Review Awards
Cynthia Erivo’s dress at the 2025 National Board of Review gala award defied gravity. The actress attended the New York event on Tuesday alongside her “Wicked” costar Ariana Grande, where the duo was honored with the NBR Spotlight Award.
Erivo wore a custom sleeveless creation by Loewe, which featured a hoop skirt and a black and white print. Christian Louboutin heels and Roberto Coin jewelry, including an earscape of diamond-encrusted hoops, completed her avant-garde ensemble.

The actress was styled by Jason Bolden, who also counts Nicole Kidman and supermodel Cara Delevingne as clients. Makeup artist Joanna Simkin gave Erivo sparkly eye shadow, black eyeliner and a nude lip.
Grande, meanwhile, wore a pink vintage-inspired Loewe gown, with its square neckline, matching shawl and darted bodice evoking trends from the 1950s and 1960s. Her dress also featured a backless silhouette.
Erivo also favored a sculptural look at the 2025 Golden Globes in Beverly Hills on Sunday. Her metallic lace Louis Vuitton gown featured a flared skirt and exaggerated hips.
At the ceremony, Erivo was up for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy for her role as Elphaba in “Wicked.” Her fellow nominees included Amy Adams, Mikey Madison, Karla Sofía Gascón and Zendaya, though the award went to Demi Moore.

“Wicked” picked up the award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement for its record-breaking performance in theaters. John M. Chu’s film is the highest-grossing release of a musical adaptation in history. Last year, the newly introduced award went to Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie.”
